Field Medical Director
New Today
About Us:
Vera Therapeutics, Inc. is a late clinical-stage biotechnology company dedicated to developing innovative therapies for serious immunological diseases. Our mission is to target the root causes of these conditions to redefine standard care for patients. Our lead product candidate, atacicept, is a fully humanized fusion protein that can be self-administered at home via a weekly subcutaneous injection. It effectively blocks B-cell Activating Factor (BAFF) and A Proliferation Inducing Ligand (APRIL), both of which play critical roles in the production of autoantibodies associated with autoimmune diseases, such as IgA nephropathy. We are also exploring the potential of atacicept for other immunologic conditions and are advancing our pipeline with VT-109, a next-generation dual inhibitor, and MAU868, a monoclonal antibody targeting BK virus infections.
Position Summary:
The Field Medical Director will report to the Vice President, Field Medical Team Leader, and play a crucial role within our medical affairs team. This position aims to elevate awareness about the unmet needs and underlying mechanisms of IgA nephropathy, along with the transformative potential of BAFF and APRIL-targeting therapies. Additionally, as our activities extend to membranous nephropathy and lupus nephritis—potential future indications for atacicept—the role will involve building valuable relationships with the scientific and medical communities.
Key Responsibilities:
Engage with Key External Experts through in-person and virtual meetings, congresses, and advisory boards.
Deliver both proactive education on disease states and reactive discussions on product and clinical trial data.
Provide scientific, clinical, and educational support to both internal and external stakeholders.
Develop a regional plan to establish key relationships with the medical community, including professional societies.
Support cross-functional medical pre-launch processes, ensuring medical excellence and readiness for product launches.
Assist in planning and executing educational activities at major scientific congresses, collaborating effectively with the medical affairs team.
Participate in special projects as needed.
Willingness to travel (up to 50%).
Qualifications:
MD, PharmD, or PhD in Life Sciences required.
A minimum of 3 years of experience in Medical Affairs is essential.
Demonstrated success in fostering external relationships and engaging with key stakeholders.
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal; experienced in presenting scientific information.

Mature communication and influencing skills, with a creative and innovative approach to problem-solving.
Excellent planning and organizational skills.
A collaborative team player who thrives in dynamic environments.
