About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Medical Director for Oncology Clinical Sciences. The successful candidate will be responsible for the ongoing review and agreement of the Therapy Area Strategy, overseeing the development and execution of the Integrated Disease Area Strategy, and providing leadership and oversight of clinical development activities. This role requires a strategic leader with a strong background in clinical development, particularly in the oncology and hematology fields. The Executive Medical Director will be accountable for high-impact global decisions, directing the development team strategy, and ensuring that regional strategies are well articulated in the global strategy documentation. The position also involves providing strategic input into global development strategies, supporting the evaluation of external compounds, and serving as the primary interface with the Medical Affairs team.
Candidates for this role at the company should have an MD or combined MD/PhD with a minimum of 10 years of pharmaceutical research experience, including at least 7 years in phases I-IV clinical development. Training and experience in hematology and/or medical oncology, especially in hematologic malignancies, is highly preferred. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading a clinical development team, experience with NDA/MAA submissions, and the ability to manage a diverse, multi-regional, matrix team. Superior communication, strategic, interpersonal, and negotiating skills are essential, as is the ability to proactively predict issues and drive decision-making. The role also requires a high level of diplomacy and the ability to influence across multinational business cultures.
