About the Role
The Company is seeking an Executive Director to lead its mission of ensuring abundant clean water for all people and nature to thrive. The successful candidate will be a mission-driven and collaborative leader with a growth mindset, capable of providing visionary and empathetic leadership during a period of organizational renewal. This role requires a leader who can maintain and grow stakeholder support, strengthen organizational culture, and chart a sustainable path forward. The Executive Director will be responsible for fostering a culture of collaboration, distributed leadership, and innovation, as well as overseeing fundraising efforts to ensure the organization's financial stability. They must be committed to centering racial justice at the intersection of water protection, access, and equity, and be adept at building and managing a high-performing team.
Key responsibilities for the Executive Director include setting organizational strategy, developing strong operational infrastructure, and leading strategic planning efforts. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in leading an organization, demonstrated fundraising expertise, and the ability to work effectively with a Board of Directors. They should be a strong communicator, with the ability to represent the organization to diverse external audiences, and have a personal and professional understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice. A minimum of 15 years of relevant leadership and proven fundraising experience is required, along with a Bachelor's degree (a degree in a related field is a plus) and a passion for the company's mission. The role demands a leader with high emotional intelligence, who can honor past difficulties while mobilizing staff toward a shared vision for the future.
