About the Role
The Company is seeking a visionary Executive Director to lead its mission of preserving and sharing the legacy of the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing dynamic leadership, executing the strategic plan, and fostering a culture of excellence and innovation. This role involves expanding educational programming, particularly to engage younger generations, and driving strategic fundraising initiatives to support the organization's growth and impact. The Executive Director will also be the primary spokesperson, building and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders, and ensuring that the WASP story continues to inspire current and future generations.
Applicants for the Executive Director position at the company should have a genuine passion for aviation, military history, and women's leadership, with a deep appreciation for the WASP legacy. A Bachelor's degree is required, with an advanced degree preferred, and a minimum of 7-10 years' progressive leadership experience in museum management, nonprofit organizations, or related fields. The role demands a strong background in educational programming, community engagement, and proven ability in fundraising and donor cultivation. The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication skills, experience in managing budgets and staff, and a willingness to travel extensively. An entrepreneurial mindset and familiarity with the regional aviation community are also strongly preferred.
