Job Summary:
The Executive Director for Perioperative Business Operations reports to the Chief Perioperative Executive and is responsible for overseeing the business functions, supply chain, and scheduling operations for all perioperative services at the UMMC main campus and Jackson-area facilities. This leader works collaboratively as a strategic business partner with key members of organizational leadership to ensure efficient, high-quality operational performance across perioperative services.
Education & Experience
Education and Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of leadership experience in hospital operations.
Certifications, Licenses, or Registration Required:
N/A
Preferred Qualification:
Master's degree and experience in surgical/medical materials, contract, surgical charges, and business operations in a highly complex surgical enterprise.

Previous experience in leading large scale surgical or other system level projects. Must have ability to organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple, complex projects simultaneously. Ability to understand and interpret financial reports and clinical data. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to exercise independent judgment, Business acumen and leadership skills, strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively interact with all levels of management, internal departments, and external agencies. Ability to manage contracts, draft business plans, proposals RFPs and other correspondence, and make presentations to senior leaders. High proficiency interpretation of financial reporting & highly skilled with financial reporting software systems, spreadsheets and graphics.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of assigned areas. Serves as a leader for perioperative business operations, advising and collaborating with the Chief Perioperative Executive and other departmental leaders to carry out the vision and strategic goals of the system.
Manages all departmental data analysts and perioperative scheduling personnel.
Supports the development, implementation, and adoption of standardized key performance indicators (KPIs) related to surgical services, minimizing variation and inefficiencies across perioperative areas. Identifies and promotes opportunities for their integration across UMMC Perioperative Services.
Collaborates with physicians and perioperative leaders to negotiate optimal value in perioperative contracts throughout the system.
Maintains effective communication and collaboration with the Chief Perioperative Executive and perioperative leaders regarding KPIs and business practices.
Supports the Chief Perioperative Executive and perioperative leadership in the development and implementation of capital budgets, cost-reduction strategies, block allocation and management, operating budget development and analysis, and the standardization and evaluation of perioperative staffing.
In collaboration with the Chief Perioperative Executive and perioperative leaders, ensures all applicable regulatory and legal standards and policies are met within the scope of the surgical supply chain.
Provides timely updates regarding progress and accomplishments. Establishes and tracks growth plan metrics and delivers regular reports to the Chief Perioperative Executive and other system leaders.
Develops comprehensive capital business plans that integrate perioperative needs across the UMMC main campus and Jackson-area facilities, including ROI analyses and strategic planning to meet growth goals.
Responsible for asset management of perioperative equipment, maintaining service agreement continuity, and leading capital equipment planning to support quality care and future growth.
Collaborates with system and perioperative leadership, including senior leaders and physicians, to design and implement value acceleration initiatives.
Partners with Supply Chain Services to support the Value Analysis Team for surgical services.
Oversees the development and maintenance of all dashboards, scorecards, and timelines related to assigned initiative execution.
In collaboration with shared services and perioperative departments, develops and manages reporting of critical information required to support a complex surgical enterprise.
Serves as the system and operating unit liaison for all perioperative information systems.
Ensures appropriate internal and external reporting of both compliance and non-compliance issues related to the surgical supply chain.
