This role is a critical interface between supply chain strategy and frontline execution, ensuring that hospitals, procedural areas, and clinics are fully supported through responsive, accurate, and clinically aligned services.
Job Description Summary
The Executive Director of Supply Chain Operations is a high-impact executive leader responsible for delivering operational excellence, strategy execution, and service alignment across MUSC Health’s hospital-based and ambulatory supply chain footprint. This leader must bring deep expertise operating in environments supported by consolidated service centers and internal JIT distribution models. The Executive Director leads regional site operations teams that manage daily logistics, receiving, inventory distribution, and procedural area material flow. This role is a critical interface between supply chain strategy and frontline execution, ensuring that hospitals, procedural areas, and clinics are fully supported through responsive, accurate, and clinically aligned services.
This position requires proven leadership experience in a large Integrated Delivery Network (IDN), with the ability to scale best practices, develop talent, and standardize operations across complex care settings. The role collaborates with nursing, surgical services, pharmacy, and hospital executives to ensure supply chain supports clinical efficiency, financial stewardship, and patient experience. It includes accountability for site performance management, labor efficiency, supply availability, regulatory readiness, and coordination during emergency response events.

Job Description
Strong understanding of supply chain operations in JIT environments and procedural/surgical material workflows.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional operational teams in acute and ambulatory care environments.
Experience managing performance via KPIs, labor benchmarking, and monthly operating reports (MORs).
Demonstrated success implementing SOPs, readiness protocols, and emergency response procedures in logistics or healthcare environments.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with demonstrated partnership at the executive level.
Additional Job Description
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or Healthcare Administration required; Master’s degree preferred. Work Experience: 10 years progressive work experience and 8+ years of progressive healthcare supply chain leadership, including multi-site responsibility in a large IDN.
