About the Role

The Company is seeking an Executive Director of K-12 Education to lead its Bob and Marion Wilson Teacher Institute, Educator Resource Library, and school and youth group programming. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing visionary and actionable leadership in the development and execution of a strategic plan to enhance the quality and impact of educational programs. This includes overseeing the Teacher Institute's professional development sessions, managing a team of dedicated professionals, and fostering partnerships with peer organizations. The role also involves re-energizing school and youth group programming, developing a premier scholastic experience, and ensuring that all educational initiatives align with the best practices of museum education.

Applicants must have a Master's degree in education, history, or a related field, with a minimum of 10-15 years' experience in museum education leadership, and a proven track record of managing teams to achieve ambitious goals. Extensive experience in leading teacher professional development programs and developing educational resources for K-12 audiences is essential. The ideal candidate will have a deep knowledge of the American education system, including social studies curriculum and instruction, and a passion for history and civics. Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills are required, as is the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The Executive Director will also be expected to work closely with the Development team to cultivate support and to represent the company at professional conferences and meetings.
