POSITION DESCRIPTION:
As a member of the Teaching and Learning Department and under the direction of the Chief Academic and Innovation Officer, the Executive Director of Curriculum, Instruction, Assessment, and Professional Development provides leadership and vision in the ongoing planning, development, implementation, review, evaluation, and refinement of the district's curriculum and instruction, assessment, and professional development services. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS : Master's degree or higher specializing in Curriculum and Instruction or Educational Leadership Michigan teaching and administrator certification Five or more years of experience as a K-12 educator, including experience as a district or school administrator Ability to provide culturally responsive leadership focusing on student-centered learning Ability to collaborate with colleagues to articulate and attain a clear vision for curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional development Experience providing leadership in the development of innovative approaches to address the diverse needs of students Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with students, instructional staff members, and administrators in the design and implementation of evidence-based curriculum, instruction, assessment and professional development practices Experience planning, organizing, and conducting professional learning activities Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from educators, community members, and the general public Experience supporting all aspects of the integration of technology to support curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional learning Background and knowledge of educational testing, assessment, research, and program evaluation Experience overseeing the accurate and timely completion of compliance reporting, data collection, and data analysis Experience leading data-driven protocols and supporting district practices related to data-driven instruction Ability to communicate effectively as a writer, speaker, and presenter Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with student information systems Knowledge of federal and state educational mandates related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, accountability, professional development, and evaluation PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Three or more years of successful experience as a building level administrator A demonstrated ability to understand the balance between district initiatives and building autonomy Experience developing annual curriculum and instruction budget requests by collaborating with building and district leadership and instructional staff members Ability to develop curriculum guides and instructional materials for the district by working cooperatively with appropriate committees and departments Experience facilitating the selection of instructional materials, textbooks, and other resources through a collaborative committee process Ability to supervise and coordinate a program of induction for new teachers and professional learning for experienced teachers An understanding of the professional development requirements and SCECH processes from the Michigan Department of Education Evidence of engaging in creative and innovative evidence-based practices, along with a willingness to take professional risks to improve opportunities for students Knowledge of teacher and principal professional growth and performance evaluation systems Demonstrated use of internal and external data to guide, define, evaluate, and inform decisions regarding curriculum, instructional practices, and assessments
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure excellence, equity, and access for all students Develop organizational structures and academic programs to ensure all students are college, career, and life ready Design and implement professional development for PreK-12 instructional staff on the Michigan Academic Standards, curriculum, instruction, and assessment to advance student achievement and maximize growth while eliminating racial disparities in student performance Prepare instructional staff to meet the needs of students using a multi-tiered system of supports Integrate practices that support students with IEPs, 504 Plans, and English Learners into curriculum materials, instructional practices, and professional development experiences Collaboratively engage district and school administrators and instructional staff in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of a comprehensive evidence-based PreK-12 program of curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional development Ensure all curriculum, instruction, and assessment decisions support the P-CCS Dynamic Plan and the district's MICIP goals Regularly monitor student achievement and growth data to inform decisions around curriculum, instruction, assessment, and professional development Identify instructional resources to support student and staff learning. Supervise, evaluate, and mentor the Director of Data, Assessment, Research, and Evaluation; K-12 Curriculum Coordinators; and Instructional Coaches Assist the Chief Academic and Innovation Officer in developing, implementing, and monitoring the budgets that support the PreK-12 instructional program Assume responsibility for monitoring appropriate budget expenditures and complying with regulations and purchasing guidelines Attend and participate in Board of Education meetings and committee meetings as needed Comply with all laws, regulations, and policies of the Board of Education. Bending, lifting, and overhead work are required Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Chief Academic and Innovation Officer

SALARY : Non-Affiliated Executive Director Salary Schedule, grade 12 Salary Range $119,914 - $156,096 Salary commensurate with experience 52-Week Position - Full year contract will be prorated to start date.
