Executive Director | Boston, MA Arthritis Foundation
Location: Remote working from Boston, MA | Department: Community Engagement | Northeast Region | FLSA Status: Exempt | Full Time
POSITION SUMMARY
Executive Directors (ED) partner closely with community volunteer leaders to build and execute an annual plan of work that addresses the needs of the arthritis community in their market(s). This includes revenue generation, special event fundraising, mission outreach and awareness activities. EDs recruit, develop and manage an effective volunteer leadership board and committees to achieve goals and manage high-impact relationships within the market.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead staff in assigned markets to build empowered communities, delivering and expanding outreach and increasing awareness of the Foundation’s programs and services.
- Develop annual and long-term plans with volunteers and staff, ensuring plans address revenue generation, special event fundraising, mission outreach and awareness.
- Directly implement and execute the annual plan, including planning events, raising funds, soliciting sponsors, and coordinating outreach.
- Recruit the right volunteers for key leadership roles and grow a diverse, engaged volunteer pipeline with recruitment, recognition, training, and leadership development.
- Cultivate, steward and advance relationships with major donors, corporate partners, healthcare providers and other key constituents within the market.
- Create a culture of philanthropy by building dynamic Leadership Boards and committees; manage and develop a high-performing market with ownership, excellence and tenacity to achieve market goals.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of 5 years of nonprofit or related experience directing staff and partnering with volunteers.
- Proven track record of volunteer stewardship, high-impact partnerships and exceeding goals.
- Proficiency in applying sales and relationship-building techniques in a nonprofit setting.
- Ability to relate and leverage the Arthritis Foundation’s mission into effective, sustained relationships and successful projects.
- Experience managing a portfolio of revenue-generating activities including direct execution of special event fundraising, major gift solicitation, corporate and foundation support.
