Clinical Systems - Administration The Executive Director, Applications serves as the chief application officer for UCSF Health. This position plans, develops, articulates, implements, monitors, and maintains the clinical and revenue cycle aspects of the electronic health record and associated information systems across UCSF Health and its affiliates, and serves as a consultant and partner on the effective use of information systems across these customers. This role will oversee the development and creation of a enterprise-wide imaging and virtual care strategies, with the associated analyst teams under their direction. The incumbent participates with other clinical and operational senior managers to establish strategic plans and objectives of UCSF Health. Responsibilities of this position may also include serving as the IT Leader/Advisor on the Senior Leadership Council for the Ambulatory and Children’s Business Units and representing the Health CIO in various capacities. Direct reports to this position will include the Sr. Director for Clinical Systems, Director of Business Systems, Director of Enterprise Imaging and the Director of Virtual Care and Telehealth. Key Functions Of This Role Include Oversight of Health Care Delivery Applications, including new implementations and roadmap development Epic application management Oversight of overall application business continuity/support and downtime preparedness EHR Interoperability Team development Team engagement Partnership with Architecture and Solutions teams Budgetary development and management, including capital and operating Technology leadership in Health IT Governance Executive Stakeholder engagement Standardizing tools and processes This position is classified as Hybrid for onsite work requirements. This role allows partial or full days of remote work. Job duties require intermittent physical presence at a UCSF or affiliate location, for specific categories of activities. Work Requirements Onsite presence is expected to be approximately 3 days per week, but certain activities may require employee to be in the office for more extended periods. Onsite activities may include, but are not limited to, executive meetings, collaboration meetings, customer meetings, team-building events, go-live readiness activities and support, 1:1 meetings, and team meetings. A designated workspace will be assigned only in cases where employee comes to the office at least 4 days/week or for other documented physical or ergonomic special requirements. Employee will be responsible for commuting expenses. Department Description Clinical Systems is responsible for all aspects of the Electronic Health Record (APeX) and other clinical and infrastructure applications for UCSF Health hospitals, practices, affiliates and community partners. Required Qualifications 10+ years experience demonstrating advanced knowledge of clinical and revenue cycle applications concepts, policies, and practices. 5+ years experience demonstrating advanced skills in developing and implementing long and short-range strategic plans. 10+ years experience in a senior leadership position demonstrating advanced leadership skills. Advanced analytical and critical-thinking skills, with in-depth ability to develop and pursue goals. Advanced ability to collaborate effectively with senior management and executive-level staff. Advanced communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and concisely. Advanced knowledge of healthcare information technology, programming, medical terminology, clinical practices and processes, and clinical information systems. Able to work across multiple locations throughout the health system and affiliates. Bachelor's degree in health care information technology, computer science, or related area, and / or equivalent combination of experience / training.
