An award-winning Community Medical Center is seeking an Environmental Services Director to lead a mission-driven EVS program that elevates patient safety, experience, and operational excellence across the campus. The Environmental Services Director opportunity is ideal for a hands-on, relationship-oriented leader who builds strong teams and delivers spotless, healing environments every day. This Community Medical Center features 25 inpatient beds with integrated emergency, surgical, and outpatient services, operating within a collaborative, locally guided governance model and a fiscally responsible framework. The organization maintains national accreditation, strong infection prevention standards, and a culture of continuous improvement. The Environmental Services Director will step into a modern environment focused on quality, safety, and readiness for surveys and audits. The Environmental Services Director reports to a senior operations leader (such as the Chief Operating Officer) and leads EVS supervisors, housekeepers, floor care specialists, and linen/transport team members. Key partnerships include Infection Prevention, Facilities/Engineering, Nursing, Perioperative Services, Materials Management, Safety/Quality, and Finance to align cleaning standards, isolation protocols, and regulatory compliance. The Environmental Services Director also collaborates closely with Human Resources for talent acquisition, development, and retention. The Environmental Services Director oversees a 24/7 EVS operation supporting inpatient units, procedural and surgical areas, the emergency department, clinics, imaging, laboratory, pharmacy, public spaces, and administrative offices. The department operates with day, evening, and night coverage across approximately 12–18 FTEs, executing daily room turns, terminal cleans, floor care, waste/linen workflows, and readiness rounds aligned with AHE best practices. The Environmental Services Director will lead a respectful, high-accountability team culture that is service-oriented, responsive, and tightly coordinated with clinical partners. The Environmental Services Director manages daily operations by setting standards, verifying and approving procedures that optimize workflow, prioritizing and assigning work across shifts, and ensuring staff compliance with organizational policies and safety practices. Responsibilities include overseeing supply inventory and vendor relationships in partnership with Materials Management; developing and managing budgets; coordinating with other departments to create efficient EVS workflows; leading staff meetings and service recovery; and partnering with Human Resources for recruiting, onboarding, performance reviews, coaching, and corrective actions. The role conducts regular quality inspections, drives infection prevention alignment, schedules major projects, coordinates external services, and manages the movement of furnishings/equipment to enhance aesthetics and sanitation while tracking department metrics, reporting performance, and using data to achieve operational excellence.
