The Director/Senior Manager, Biosimilars and Generics Trade & Programs, plays a pivotal role, at the intersection of Partnerships, Sourcing, and Sales, driving strategic growth and operational excellence across BioCare’s specialty distribution business. Under the direction of the Senior Director, this individual will lead formulary management for two key product categories, ensuring alignment with business priorities and market opportunities. As the operational lead for new and existing manufacturer relationships and market intelligence, the Director is responsible for award negotiation, product positioning, incentive creation & tracking, and reporting. This role also champions initiatives to build scale across these product categories — whether through enhanced marketing agreements, optimized sales strategies, or strategic sourcing agreements. The Director will help shape the evolution of BioCare’s Biosimilars and Generics Program buy-side and sell-side strategies, while implementing and maintaining the tools and processes needed to track performance and ensure accountability.
Key Responsibilities:
Portfolio Maintenance: This leader will proactively manage our supplier portfolios, ensuring we have the right products on the right formularies. They will manage the collation of supplier portfolios and pipelines, recommend Source program slots, and co-manage supply outage plans to prevent gaps in contracted coverage.
Price/Cost Analytics: The role will involve supporting proposals, conducting economic forecasting at the product and supplier level, and monitoring product margins to ensure they remain within business thresholds.
Partner Management: This person will manage ongoing partnerships for our generics and biosimilars spaces, providing market feedback, and oversee partner performance management and reporting. They will ensure that our partner’s capabilities continually align with BioCare’s customers’ needs.
Competitive Intelligence Repository: Maintains a market-relevant portfolio, this individual will review public and non-public data, RFIs, and other sources. They will analyze this information and recommend actions to maintain competitive pricing for the benefit of our customers and mitigate leakage risk outside BioCare’s channel.
Supplier Scorecarding: This role will involve coordinating business reviews and demand forecasts with Finance, Sales, and Supply Chain. The individual will work cross-functionally to ensure BioCare receives the inventory it needs and maintains strong supplier relationships.
Required competencies, knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Deep understanding of the generics and biosimilars markets, including supplier dynamics and formulary management
Strong analytical skills with experience in price/cost analytics, economic forecasting, and margin monitoring
Proven ability to manage complex partnerships and vendor relationships
Skilled in synthesizing competitive intelligence and translating insights into actionable strategies
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, especially with Finance, Sales, and Supply Chain
Ability to lead strategic initiatives and drive operational excellence across sourcing, sales, and partnerships
Required certifications, licenses, education, and experience:
Minimum 7 years of experience in Pharma
Preferred education, competencies, knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Advanced degree (MBA, MS, RPh, PharmD) or equivalent experience
Experience in pharma distribution, formulary management, biosimilars, and generics
Familiarity with reimbursement vehicles, and public & commercial payor dynamics
Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional initiatives
Deep knowledge of MS Office suite, business intelligence, and SFDC
