Bellarmine University invites applications for the position of Director, TRIO Student Support Services (SSS). This role provides visionary and operational leadership for Bellarmine's newly funded TRIO SSS program, a federally funded initiative that supports eligible students who are first-generation, low-income. The Director will lead a dynamic team dedicated to fostering academic success, personal growth, financial literacy, and degree completion for participants.
The Director will ensure full compliance with the U.S. Department of Education grant regulations, manage program operations and staff, oversee budget and assessment activities, and build strong collaborative relationships across the Bellarmine community to advance student persistence and success.
This position is funded by the U.S. Department of Education. Continued employment is contingent upon the renewal and availability of federal funding.
Primary Responsibilities:
Program Leadership and Administration
Provide strategic direction, vision, and daily management of Bellarmine's TRIO SSS program.
Develop and oversee all program activities to ensure alignment with TRIO objectives and Bellarmine's mission of student success and inclusion.
Lead recruitment, selection, and onboarding of eligible SSS participants.
Oversee academic, financial, and personal advising to help students persist and graduate.
Develop and assess programming that promotes academic skills, financial literacy, and career readiness.
Maintain a small student caseload to stay directly engaged in student success outcomes.
Prepare and submit all required federal reports, including the Annual Performance Report (APR), ensuring full compliance with TRIO and institutional policies.
Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate SSS staff and student workers.
Foster a collaborative, mission-driven culture within the program team.
Provide professional development and mentorship to enhance staff expertise and program excellence.
Manage the annual SSS budget in compliance with federal and institutional guidelines.
Coordinate with the Office of Grants and Sponsored Programs and the Business Office to monitor expenditures, reconcile accounts, and maintain accurate financial records.
Collaborate with Student Success, Academic Services, Academic Affairs, Financial Aid, Career Development, and other university academic and student support offices to deliver comprehensive student support.
Serve as a visible leader on campus in promoting equity, access, and student success.
Represent Bellarmine and the TRIO SSS program at regional and national conferences, workshops, and TRIO network events.
Communicate program outcomes and impact to internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure adherence to all TRIO SSS program regulations, university policies, and grant objectives.
Maintain accurate data and student records using university and TRIO systems.
Conduct regular program evaluations and use data-driven insights to guide improvements.
Support broader university assessment, accreditation, and student success initiatives.

Requirements:
Master's degree required; Doctorate preferred in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Counseling, Social Work, Education, or a closely related field.
Minimum of five years of progressive experience in higher education, including at least two years directing a TRIO or comparable federally funded student support program.
Demonstrated success managing staff, budgets, and compliance with federal grant regulations.
Experience counseling or advising first-generation, low-income students
Proven ability to design, implement, and evaluate programs that promote student retention and graduation.
Prior experience with grant writing and reporting preferred
