Overview This role is not your standard HR back-office position. As the Director of Training & Culture, you will drive training, culture, and leadership development for 4,500 part-time and 150 full-time employees, shaping how they present themselves daily to embody the Brooklyn Way. You will collaborate with the Assistant General Manager, HR, and department leaders to establish a benchmark for organizational development in the arena and the industry. Responsibilities Deliver Brooklyn Way training at the highest quality across all departments. Execute training validation to ensure staff can perform, not merely complete a course. Create customized learning pathways for each level, from first-shift event personnel to senior executives. Develop leadership development pipelines to nurture internal talent. Motivate employees to express their authentic selves at work. Implement succession planning and strategies for internal talent growth. Culture & Engagement Serve as the cultural “North Star,” establishing a standard for accountability and pride. Spark enthusiasm and help employees view their roles as more than just a paycheck. Collaborate with Human Resources to enhance recognition systems based on impact. Promote inclusion and belonging across all job levels and backgrounds. Create frameworks that honor genuine cultural alignment. Alignment & Collaboration Partner with the Assistant General Manager, Human Resources, and department leaders to promote positive organizational growth. Work with leaders across operations, guest services, security, and other areas to integrate culture into daily tasks. Leverage data and feedback to enhance training and monitor cultural advancement. Create internal communication plans to keep employees motivated and informed. First 12 Months Expectations Ensure full completion of Brooklyn Way training at 100% with validation for all employees. Launch a minimum of two internal leadership programs with measurable adoption. Improve cultural alignment scores on the yearly engagement survey by 10%. Candidate Profile Minimum of 5 years in organizational development, training, employee engagement, or related fields. Proven success driving culture and training at a large scale in fast-paced, guest-facing industries. Experience with unionized workforces is strongly preferred. Exceptional communication and influence across all levels. Belief that training continues after the class ends. Comfort with difficult conversations that foster alignment and understanding of different perspectives. Thrives in dynamic, ever-changing environments and embraces unpredictability to your advantage. Visible and proactive in engaging with staff to foster collaboration across teams. Key Competencies Clear, confident, warm communication. Effective and precise communication for understanding. Culture is shaped by experiences, not just policies. Ability to motivate at all levels, from the locker room to the boardroom. Commitment to high standards while providing support.
