The Role As Director of Strategic Sourcing, you will play a pivotal role in shaping Vessel’s supply chain as we scale nationally. You’ll be responsible for developing and executing a sourcing strategy that ensures quality, cost-effectiveness, supply continuity, and innovation across all categories, especially in structural components, finishes, building systems, and integrated technology. This is a hands-on leadership position that will require both high-level strategic thinking and deep operational execution.
What You'll Do Define and lead Vessel’s long-term sourcing and procurement strategy in alignment with product, manufacturing, and deployment goals. Identify key strategic suppliers and partners that align with our quality, sustainability, and cost metrics. Build resilient, scalable sourcing frameworks to support national expansion. Negotiate contracts and partnerships with manufacturers, material suppliers, and OEMs to secure favorable terms and ensure on-time delivery. Develop multi-source strategies to mitigate supply chain risk. Lead supplier scorecard programs and continuous performance improvement initiatives. Work closely with Product, Design, Manufacturing, Construction, and Finance to forecast demand, validate materials performance, and align sourcing strategies with business objectives. Support product development teams with early supplier involvement to improve manufacturability and reduce cost/time to market. Build and manage a lean sourcing team and internal systems that ensure procurement operations run smoothly and efficiently. Establish category management best practices, including total cost of ownership (TCO), vendor management systems, and value engineering. Ensure compliance with legal, environmental, and ethical standards. Who You Are 10+ years of experience in sourcing, supply chain, or procurement roles—preferably in, prefab, modular, or advanced manufacturing environments. Demonstrated experience building and scaling a sourcing function from the ground up. Strong negotiation skills and a proven ability to secure and manage complex supplier contracts. Experience sourcing across multiple materials and technologies: steel, wood, glass, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, finishes, etc. Proficiency in ERP, procurement, and supplier management platforms. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business or related field (MBA or MS preferred).
