Responsibilities Design steel structures and concrete foundations in accordance with applicable AISC, ACI, building codes, etc. Assist Product Engineering Teams with structural design oversight of structural components for both portable and stationary/relocatable equipment, and provide oversight of design for meeting transport requirements for portable equipment. Provide structural calculation submittal packages for review by building officials and/or third parties on steel and concrete structures. Provide layout drawings and sketches of structures to the Engineering Department drafters for completion of detail drawings. Check detail drawings provided by foundation modelers and oversee revisions to drawings as required. Recommend and implement design changes to equipment to reduce manufacturing costs and improve product performance. Inspect equipment prior to shipping to verify that critical welds and structural details have been properly constructed. Train and educate fabrication shop personnel and foremen on proper construction techniques. Design and oversee construction of fabrication shop fixtures and material handling devices. Collaborate with end users to resolve complaints and oversee field repairs as necessary. Provide recommendations and support to Sales Team and end users on modifying existing structures to enable upgrading equipment. Travel to plant installations to measure existing equipment and prepare layout drawings and sketches of proposed modifications. Supervise other structural and product design engineers and foundation drafting personnel; schedule work. Contribute to recruitment, interviewing and development of engineering staff as needed. Consult with equipment and hardware suppliers to select and evaluate performance. Stay current with technological advances and maintain Professional Engineer status. Oversee database management for structural engineering records and equipment weights, and distribute updates to other departments. Support Co-op program for training future engineers in collaboration with Human Resources. Ensure portable equipment meets state portability requirements in collaboration with transportation departments. Utilize software and programs to aid engineering design. Follow company policies, safety rules, and procedures at all times. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Structural Engineering from a four-year university required. Postgraduate work preferred. P.E. Certification required. Minimum of 10 years in an equivalent or progressive role. Knowledge of equipment normally supplied on all types of asphalt plants and components required to manufacture these plants. Ability to work effectively as a team member; strong problem solving and time management skills. Computer literacy relevant to the position. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical and regulatory documents. Regular attendance as required. Supervisor and Leadership Experience required for leadership roles; budgetary and program management responsibilities may apply.
