What Strategic Planning/Execution contributes to Cardinal Health
Strategic Planning & Execution (Business Strategy) is responsible for leadership, direction and expertise in the development of business strategy, strategic management disciplines and business analytics that support the company’s mission, vision and valuation objectives, in close collaboration with business leaders. Strategy and Strategic Planning/Execution is responsible for developing and supporting the realization of strategic plans and management agendas including organic and inorganic growth initiatives.
The Director, Strategy will report directly to the Senior Vice President, Strategy & Business Development for the Pharmaceutical & Specialty Solutions (PSS) Segment. This role will be responsible for identifying and leading strategic opportunities that expand beyond PSS to across the enterprise. Additionally, this role will be responsible for developing and managing the identification and response to key trends impacting PSS.
As part of a visible, highly impactful team, this Director will need to bring demonstrated experience flourishing in rapidly evolving industries and environments (including healthcare) and possess exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
Location - Ideally targeting individuals local to Central Ohio, willing to work in a hybrid capacity (collaborating with the team in our corporate HQ Dublin office 3 days a week). That said, we are still open to considering individuals based all over the country.
Responsibilities
Drive the identification, in collaboration with the PSS leadership team and other EC/OC leaders as appropriate, of strategic opportunities that span multiple businesses/segments across the enterprise
Build alignment with relevant leaders on specific cross-segment opportunities to be explored
Assess agreed-upon opportunities by conducting research, performing analysis, and taking other steps necessary to develop a recommendation on what, if any, actions Cardinal Health should pursue
Lead or assist with the creation of all phases of a business case (e.g., market analysis, value proposition, strategic fit, economic models and launch) to support a new initiative.
Drive decision making with EC/OC leaders on what actions to pursue (or not pursue) for each opportunity
Anticipate and build alignment around the evolution of the industry landscape
Develop an ‘early warning system’ to track the evolution of trends over time
Establish key partnerships with Government Relations and Finance to assess the impact of policy proposals
Excel in a matrixed management environment; communicate regularly with executive teams
Establish appropriate communications cadence and format to update PSS leadership on trends and potential impact
Qualifications
Targeting individuals with 10+ years of Strategy experience (with a demonstrated track record in the healthcare industry), preferred
Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred
Prior consulting experience at a top tier firm, preferred
Demonstrate a proven understanding of strategy development with a track record of success
Demonstrate proven ability to work with all levels of an organization
Demonstrate excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)

Independently defines project establishes budgets identifies participants and mitigates risk
Consults with management to determine project objectives with long-term implications
Acts as a mentor to less experienced colleagues

Anticipated salary range: $116,500 - $188,055
