The Director, Station Operations provides leadership and strategic direction for the entire operation. This role will drive operational excellence and continuous improvement through all of McGee Air Services’ lines of business. They will coach, guide and mentor leaders responsible for day-to-day station operations and administrative support. This person will drive ownership and accountability through their team to constantly deliver on customer key performance indicators (KPIs). The Director is responsible for fostering a collaborative team that promotes a culture of mutual respect and teamwork, while ensuring safety and service are fundamental operational priorities. Key Responsibilities Foster and maintain a culture at all times where the safety of our team members and customers is our number one priority. Develop positive relationships with customers, reinforcing our commitment to customer service and regularly validating that we are meeting/exceeding expectations. Reinforce strong working relationships with Human Resources, Safety, Training, Alaska counterparts, customers and other engaged third parties (i.e. GSE providers) Model strong leadership, including but not limited to building relationships and trust, giving recognition, showing care for team members, providing feedback and coaching, accepting ownership and driving results. Promote a high-performance culture by cultivating and motivating direct/indirect reports through coaching, mentoring, and regular and meaningful feedback. Drive leadership development, focusing on building station leadership bench. Build processes and systems that drive continuous improvement throughout the operation which includes the culture, safety, recruiting, administration and recognition of the station and team members. Develop long-term strategies while achieving short-term targets on vendor and internal scorecards. Drive operational performance metrics, ensuring results are achieved. Oversee strategies designed to eliminate delays, irregularities, safety and compliance concerns quickly and efficiently in conjunction with the operations leadership team. Oversee operational plans and daily work schedules in support of a 24/7 operation in accordance with the labor contract. Manage financial performance and develop strategies to improve productivity and cost performance. Develop and maintain standards in safety, compliance, attendance, team member development, discipline and performance standards. Drive key performance indicators focused on employee retention, attendance reliability and safety incident benchmarks. Ensure recognition and celebration of performance. Ensure compliance with company policies and all regulations of federal, state, and local airport authorities. Ensure that facilities and assets are adequate and in excellent condition. Establish and maintain a culture that encourages open communication, where all team members feel valued, connected, and engaged in the success of the operation. Perform additional duties as required for the success of the station and business as a whole.
Qualifications
Required Five (5) years of airline experience with proven skills in station operations and administration, including one of the following areas: passenger service, cargo handling, fleet service, or ground operations Five (5) years of leadership experience leading large groups of team members and multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced, service-focused environment required Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills required Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills required Experience with building and developing teams required Professional work ethic and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all work groups while addressing people courageously, directly and candidly Proven ability to direct the work of others in a positive way Strong leadership ability with a genuine desire to help others Effectively communicate to a broad audience encompassing all levels of the organization Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment Ability to work with and maintain confidential information Flexibility to work varied shifts, weekends, holidays required Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test. Ability to pass a criminal background check. Ability to obtain & maintain as airport SIDA badge. High school diploma or equivalent required Must be at least 18 years of age Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Preferred Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
