Overview Join to apply for the Director, Software Engineering - Payment Services role at Capital One . As a Capital One Director of Software Engineering, you will serve as the Payments Technology point of contact and partner with technology and business leaders to provide multi-year technical vision and strategy aligned to achieving business goals. This role will serve as the key technical domain leader within the PULSE Payments Technology organization and across the Business Technology organization, leading multiple technical teams: Debit Network Settlement, Pricing & Reporting (Settlement & Disputes).
This role creates a culture of effective risk management, accountability, and risk awareness across the organization and acts as a role model of this culture within their organization, across Global Payment Network - PULSE.
Responsibilities Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product-focused software engineers.
Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team.
Work with product managers to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios.
Continuously improve software engineering practices.
Collaborate within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across full-stack development tools and technologies.
Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions.
Stay current with tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in technology communities, and mentor other engineers.
Encourage innovation, cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, outside-the-box thinking, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity.
Improve velocity of your teams and others through cross-team collaboration.
Lead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into AWS environments.
Break existing monolithic applications into microservice architectures and build new microservices.
Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree
At least 7 years’ experience in software development
At least 5 years’ experience in people management
Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
10+ years’ of experience in software development
5+ years’ of experience in Agile practices
Payment Services or financial services experience

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated. This role is also eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI).
Locations and salary ranges: Riverwoods, IL; Houston, TX; McLean, VA. Actual offer amounts depend on location and candidate qualifications. This role may be eligible for additional incentives as per Capital One policy.
