Overview Director, Software Engineering - Payments Services. This role serves as the Payments Technology point of contact and partners with technology and business leaders to provide multi-year technical vision and strategy aligned with business goals. The director is the key technical domain leader within the PULSE Payments Technology organization and across Global Payment Network - PULSE, leading multiple technical teams including Debit Network Settlement, Pricing & Reporting (Settlement & Disputes). This role fosters a culture of effective risk management, accountability, and risk awareness across the organization and serves as a role model within their organization. You will Lead, manage and grow multiple teams of product-focused software engineers. Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of engineers on your team. Collaborate with product managers to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios. Continuously improve software engineering practices. Work within and across Agile teams to design, develop, test, implement, and support technical solutions across full-stack development tools and technologies. Lead the craftsmanship, availability, resilience, and scalability of solutions. Stay on top of tech trends, experiment with and learn new technologies, participate in internal and external technology communities, and mentor other engineers. Encourage innovation, use of cutting-edge technologies, inclusion, teamwork, self-organization, and diversity. Improve the velocity of your teams and others. Lead efforts to deploy new and existing applications into AWS environments. Break existing monolithic applications into microservices and build new microservices. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree. At least 7 years of experience in software development. At least 5 years of experience in people management. Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering. 10+ years of experience in software development. 5+ years of experience in Agile practices. Salary information is provided for candidates hired to work in these locations and reflects the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based on hours worked. Riverwoods, IL: $239,900 - $273,800; Houston, TX: $239,900 - $273,800; McLean, VA: $263,900 - $301,200. Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range for that location, and the actual offer will be stated in the offer letter. This role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives.
