ABOUT THE POSITION
We are seeking a Director of Smart Services to lead the commercialization and delivery of connected service offerings powered by Astec’s Signal platform. This position plays a pivotal role in building value-added service models using IoT data to deliver proactive monitoring, performance insights, and advisory support to our customers. This role will collaborate closely with Digital Product Management, Infrastructure Solutions Parts, and Service teams to ensure seamless execution and integration with broader business priorities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Develop and operationalize the Smart Services business model, including pricing, packaging, and go-to-market strategy.
· Lead the design and delivery of customer-facing monitoring and advisory services based on Signal platform data.
· Collaborate with Digital Product Management to align roadmap development with service delivery requirements.
· Coordinate with Infrastructure Solutions Parts and Service teams to integrate Smart Services with existing support structures.
· Establish systems for proactive alerts, equipment reporting, remote diagnostics, and customer-facing dashboards.
· Define KPIs, service levels, and reporting mechanisms to measure performance and customer impact.
· Build and lead a cross-functional team including technical advisors, data analysts, and monitoring center personnel.
· Engage directly with customers to validate service offerings, gather feedback, and drive adoption.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related field.
· 7+ years of experience in either IoT-based support, connected services, or equivalent experience in the asphalt equipment or road construction industry.
· Proven success in commercializing digital or service-based offerings.
· Strong understanding of industrial equipment, telematics, or plant operations preferred.
· Ability to operate cross-functionally and communicate across technical and commercial teams.
· Excellent communication, analytical, and strategic planning skills.

Work Environment
Office
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of injury in an office environment and occasionally a manufacturing shop plant environment. Duties include a typical office setting including extensive computer work, sitting or standing. 25% Travel requirement. Some international could be required.
