Overview EvolveMKD is seeking a dynamic, strategic, and results-driven Director to join our Public Relations team. This person should have proven experience working across consumer lifestyle, wellness and/or consumer healthcare brands with a track record of executing strong media launches and maintenance efforts, as well as strategic public relations initiatives such as events or strategic partnerships. This person will have demonstrated acumen for building client relationships and strong consumer lifestyle media relationships.

EvolveMKD is based in Manhattan, and we operate on a hybrid schedule (in-office 3 days a week on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). Relocation assistance is not provided.
Job Overview The Director, Public Relations will play a pivotal role in leading client accounts and executing strategic initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in client management, event execution, and media relations. This person should be proactive, brave in trying new tasks and learning new technology, and a self-starter with strong research, project management, and organization skills. We expect team members at this level to demonstrate a strong problem-solving skillset in a fast-paced, start-up environment. Passion and enthusiasm for the work, as well as team collaboration and respect, are required.
Key Responsibilities Client and Account Management
Serve as a key contact for clients, building and maintaining strong relationships, ensuring clients feel prioritized and valued
Lead the execution of strategic PR plans, aligning with client goals and industry trends; anticipate challenges and deliver strategic solutions
Manage day-to-day account operations, including project timelines, budgets, and deliverables across direct reports, peers, clients, vendors and freelancers
Ensure all client initiatives are completed in a timely manner and deliver business results
Lead client calls with on-the-spot recommendations and proactive thinking beyond the agenda
Organize and run in-person client meetings with poise, presence, and strategic thinking
Develop forward-facing six- or twelve-month plans and execute overarching brand initiatives and promotional campaigns with emphasis on proposal development, execution timeline, and budget management; coordinate with vendors as necessary
Develop KPI measurement strategy and deliver on it
Assist in the development of new business proposals
Media Relations
Execute media strategies aligned with client objectives and target audiences
Develop and maintain relationships with long-lead and short-lead media (broadcast a plus) to secure features across broadcast, print, and digital
Monitor media trends and competitor activity to inform client strategies
Events
Oversee planning and execution of PR and influencer events such as treatment days, press trips, product launches, desksides, and mailers
Team Management
Manage up to EVP, PR and CEO; communicate issues/successes with ownership and urgency; identify areas for team improvement
Mentor mid-level and junior staff, fostering growth, collaboration, and accountability
Conduct bi-annual reviews and weekly 1:1s with direct reports, providing feedback and development opportunities
Annual Base Salary Range: $125,000-$150,000 (Compensation based on skills, qualifications, and experience of the applicant and position requirements.)
Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Marketing a plus but not required
8+ years of relevant agency PR experience; consumer lifestyle experience preferred
3+ years of management experience
Proven ability to manage client accounts, crisis, budgets, and junior staff
Ability to synthesize information and set high-level and detailed strategy
Strong time management; work quickly under pressure with attention to detail
Big-picture thinker with end-to-end execution capability
Excellent written and verbal communication, including writing, copy-editing, and presentation skills
Proven track record of delivering results
Highly organized, responsive, and punctual
Problem solving mindset and drive to improve efficiency and delivery
Hands-on mentality; thrives in a fast-paced environment
Proactive and consistent follow-up
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Zoom, and Slack
