POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Provider Compensation and Contracting serves as an administrative partner to leaders across the Health First Integrated Delivery Network (IDN), assisting in assessing physician and advanced practice practitioner compensation models and contracts for employed, independent contractor, and locum providers. The Director of Provider Compensation and Contracting engages in change management with stakeholders to align goals and compensation strategies with system needs. Manage multiple high-level situations in a fast-paced environment. The Director of Provider Compensation and Contracting works to collaborate, influence, and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITES
Manages the design, implementation, and maintenance of physician compensation programs to ensure equitable, legally compliant, and competitive pay practices, while overseeing high-level project work related to physician and Advanced Practice Provider compensation.
Establishes and maintain relationships with executive leaders, department leaders, and physician leaders to successfully collaborate in implementing and monitoring efficient physician compensation practices and models and develops compensation plans for specialty groups and individual sub-specialists, advising on best practices.
Conducts contract negotiations with existing and new providers, negotiating the best system rates based on agreements with agencies/third-party partners while balancing regulatory parameters.
Works and collaborates with internal departments to ensure accurate and timely provider payments and to clarify provider payment issues.
Manages the maintenance of databases, dashboards, and custom reports/inquiries.
Collaborates with the finance team to perform financial modeling, ensuring compliance with policies, regulatory requirements, and the enterprise’s mission, values, and financial goals.
Serves as a liaison to leadership in physician compensation design, changes, and interpretations of compensation plans or amendments. Communicate and collaborate with recruitment, operations, finance, human resources, and payroll, and also acts as the primary contact for external consultants regarding compensation survey access and fair market value (FMV) reviews.
Leverages established knowledge of professional practices and regulatory standards to champion the development of compensation and contracting philosophies, guidelines, and processes.
Communicates contract terms to finance and other internal stakeholders to ensure provider
compensation is accurate and with legal team to ensure contract language complies with all
governmental and regulatory bodies.
Partners with other leaders regarding any foreseeable contracting or compensation issues related to participating providers and engages with internal entities and leaders to align compensation with system goals and advance organizational strategy.
Participates in local, regional, and national professional practice networks, serving as the subject matter expert on current market trends. Consult with regional and national multi-specialty group practices/integrated health systems regarding compensation and contracting topics and strategies.
Oversees standards for maintaining level of security within scope of responsibility, abiding by established Health First information Security policies and procedures; contracts and compliance of contracts with regulatory agencies as required in professional practice.

Work Experience
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare or Business Administration, or relevant field.
Work Experience: Ten (10) years of related experience.
Licensure: None
Certification: None
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
Proficient in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
Healthcare employment contracting experience preferred.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to maintain positive working relationships at all levels within the organization.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to assess complex income scenarios and make decisions related to FMV.
Strong written, oral, and auditory communication skills; presentation and public speaking skills are a plus.
Negotiation, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Majority of time involves sitting or standing; occasional walking, bending, and stooping.
Long periods of computer time or at workstation.
Light work that may include lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds with or without assistance.
May be exposed to inside environments with varied temperatures, air quality, lighting and/or low to moderate noise.
Communicating with others to exchange information.
Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to perform tasks.
Workspace may vary from open to confined.
May require travel to various facilities within and beyond county perimeter; may require use of personal vehicle.
