Director of Procurement & Commodity Risk - Manufacturing Location : near west suburbs of Chicago Join a growing food manufacturing company where you’ll take full ownership of procurement strategy, inventory management, and commodity risk. This leadership role combines strategic planning with hands-on execution. You’ll manage a lean team and work closely with senior leadership to ensure a reliable, cost-effective supply of food ingredients for a growing customer base. If you're a supply chain leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys solving complex sourcing challenges, and wants to have real influence on business outcomes - this is your seat at the table. What You’ll Do: Lead sourcing and procurement for raw materials, packaging, and related inventory. Oversee the company’s commodity hedging strategy for food products. Own S&OP planning—aligning inventory, supply/demand forecasting, and production needs. Negotiate contracts, build supplier relationships, and establish vendor alternatives. Monitor and reduce aging inventory; improve inventory accuracy and turnover. Drive strategic projects to streamline procurement operations and reduce costs. Partner cross-functionally across production, warehouse, quality, and finance teams. Implement KPIs and support continuous improvement initiatives. What You Bring: 10+ years of progressive procurement/commodity experience in food manufacturing. Strong understanding of commodity risk, supplier negotiation, and ERP systems. Hands-on leadership style with a passion for process improvement and cost control. Experience in food manufacturing preferred; background in inventory/supply planning required.
