JOB AUTHORIZATION: Director of Traditional Music
Overview The Director of Traditional Music leads and develops the music ministry of the Village Church with primary emphasis on the traditional music program and ensembles. A key role of the Music Director is to help inspire congregants to make a joyful noise to the Lord, to worship God in Spirit and in truth, and to join in Gods mission in everyday life.

Key Authorizations:
Direct the Village Church Choir and the Chancel Bell Choir at weekly rehearsals and in Sunday morning worship services. Schedule traditional ensembles and soloists in conjunction with the overall worship schedule. Choose repertoire including three hymns that is sensitive and supportive of the liturgical calendar, the Biblical and theological themes highlighted in each weeks sermon message, as well as the overall flow and order of worship. Creatively plan and coordinate with the Worship Ministries Team, Worship Staff, and musicians to produce engaging worship services centered on Jesus Christ. This includes meetings with the Senior Pastor and a monthly meeting with the Worship Ministries Team. Support, coordinate, and if applicable, participate with the Childrens Music and Contemporary Music programs. Seek ways to collaborate at key points throughout the year. Recruit people of all ages to participate in existing and new ensembles or as soloists. Contract other musicians as needed throughout the year for special music offerings. Prepare and be present for special services including Christmas, Easter, and other special holidays. Comfortable conducting instrumentalists for special programs. (Example: Messiah concert) Oversee and coordinate the maintenance of the musical instruments within the worship department, including the organ, three pianos and hand bells. Other Duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications: Minimum requirement of a Bachelor of Arts in Music degree in one of the following concentrations: conducting, voice or instrumental performance, or music education. Masters degree preferred. Experience in choral conducting, ideally in a church setting. Values collaboration and enjoys interacting with people. A growing faith in Christ Jesus that can be expressed in a genuine manner.
SUPERVISOR: The Senior Pastor
SUPERVISES: Organist, Childrens Choir Accompanist, Section-leaders for the Village Church Choir.
PART-TIME POSITION: 15-20 Hours/week. Certain Seasons require more or less. Will submit hours every two weeks.
EDUCATION: Bachelor of Arts in Music in conducting, voice or instrumental performance, or music education. Master's degree preferred.
EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
PAY SCALE: Commensurate with Experience $27,000 to $30,000.
