The primary responsibilities include: sourcing raw material and packaging at the best price that meet specifications outlined by Operations and Quality ensuring availability of raw material and packaging for production while minimizing inventory minimizing finished good inventory on hand while maintaining 98.5% OTIF or higher
The Director of Supply Chain collaborates closely with all levels of plant management and external suppliers. This role partners regularly with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), HR, Finance, Sales, Marketing, R&D and Operations to ensure that supply chain strategies support company-wide needs, customer satisfaction, and growth initiatives.
Negotiate and manage all supply chain vendor contracts, including third-party logistics providers (3PLs). Oversee logistics operations, ensuring cost-effectiveness, compliance, and timely delivery of finished goods and materials. Build, lead, and develop the supply chain team, ensuring it is staffed, trained, and aligned to meet or exceed company goals. Engage with daily production planning to consistently achieve targeted case fill rate (98.5% or higher). Monitor and support purchasing activities to secure materials and packaging required to execute the production plan. Identify, plan, and implement cost-saving and efficiency projects across the supply chain. Support production scheduling to balance customer demand with operational capabilities and optimize resource utilization. Oversee forecasting tools and processes to improve demand planning, purchasing, and inventory management accuracy. Manage vendors to ensure all food certifications (i.e. SQF, Halal, Kosher etc.) are maintained along with relevant certificates of analysis and certificates of insurance. Partner with Operations to drive continuous improvement efforts and costreduction initiatives. Ensure operational capacity aligns with the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process to meet current and future business requirements. Act as a liaison on R&D commercialization projects, coordinating cross-functional efforts between Innovation, Purchasing, Marketing, Operations, Sales, and SLT. Participate in daily and weekly operations meetings to align supply chain activities with business updates and changes. Lead bi-weekly S&OP meetings, continuously refining the process to enhance collaboration and accuracy. Track, document, and communicate changes related to reformulations, packaging updates, and vendor transitions. Support annual budget development and contribute to defining company goals and strategic direction. Maximize systems to automate processes as much as possible.
Required 10+ years of progressive supply chain, purchasing, planning, or warehouse management experience in a food manufacturing environment; prior plant management or operations leadership experience is an advantage. Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or related field. Strong analytical, mathematical, written, and critical thinking skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and experience with ERP and forecasting systems.
