Job Summary:
The Director of Security is responsible for overseeing all security operations, ensuring the safety and well-being of residents, staff, and visitors. The role involves managing a team of professionals in the areas of security, concierge and transportation to maintain a safe and welcoming environment. The Director will develop, implement, and enforce security protocols; ensure compliance with local, state and federal security regulations; oversee risk assessment and prevention practices; oversee security surveillance and access control infrastructure; and establish and deploy emergency and incident response and crisis management procedures in line with security protocols. Additionally, the Director will collaborate with other departments, local law enforcement and emergency responders to ensure a seamless and efficient security infrastructure, while upholding our values and standards. This position reports directly to VP, Community Services and provides guidance and oversight to staff members, ensuring that all security-related services are delivered efficiently and effectively.
Essential functions of the job: • Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive security programs, including physical, technical, procedural, and electronic security measures. • Provide security solutions and recommendations across the full spectrum of the security department's scope, including threat management, access control, crime prevention, investigations, risk assessment, loss prevention, and workplace violence prevention. • Hire, train, evaluate, manage security staff, ensuring adherence to protocols, company standards and maintain high levels of professionalism. • Oversee security system installations, surveillance, and access control, including selecting, maintaining, and testing intrusion detection devices, alarms, and cameras. • Develop, implement and regularly evaluate security policies and procedures and services, including emergency response, crisis management, and evacuation plans. • Lead investigations of security incidents, accidents, or breaches, coordinate with emergency responders, and maintain detailed reports with recommended corrective actions. • Serve as the single-source security subject matter expert, providing consultation and written reports to the Vice President of Community Services concerning security and hospitality issues. • Co-own the creation and development Emergency Operations Procedures with the Facility Services Manager, ensuring effective communication and training across the organization. • Serve as the database administrator for the nurse call system, including stationary devices, mobile devices, receiver network, in-house paging communication system, and report generation. • Create and retain all necessary security records, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and policies. • Work closely with department leaders to ensure the protection of associates, residents, facilities, assets, records, and proprietary information. • Manage the departmental budget, including overseeing accurate daily billing of departmental products and ser-vices rendered to residents, seeking out efficiencies in operations and staffing. • Stay abreast of emerging practices and trends with technologies and physical security practices to enhance security infrastructure. • Ensure adherence to governance and compliance standards, while continuously evaluating and improving security operations.
Qualifications
Education and experience required: • BS or BA degree preferred • 5+ years' experience in vendor negotiations as well as preparing and delivering presentations to senior manage-ment. • 5+ years' experience in security and hospitality management directing all aspects of a front-facing team(s). • Board certification in Security Management such as CPP certification through ASIS or CHSO through IAHSS. • Currently have or be willing to obtain CPR/AED certification
Schedule: Monday-Friday 6:00 AM - 3:00 PM, On call as necessary
