Reports to: Principal
Hours: 8:00am - 4:00pm + some out-of-school and after-hours responsibilities (as determined by Principal)
Compensation: $93,600 - $125,791. We offer fair compensation considering qualifications, experience, and impact, along with a comprehensive benefits package.
FLSA Status: Exempt

About The Opportunity The Director of School Culture & Family Engagement fosters a positive, inclusive school environment where students feel safe and supported. This role involves designing systems for classroom culture, SEL, restorative justice, student leadership, and family partnerships. As a key leader, you will work with students, families, staff, and community partners, coaching and evaluating teachers and teacher leaders, and leading school-wide culture initiatives.
Key Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive school culture plan aligned with our mission and values
Manage the CST team to drive school culture vision
Create a joyful, high-expectation, inclusive school environment
Lead behavior management strategies for diverse student needs
Coach and support teachers to maintain strong classrooms and systems
Implement restorative justice and trauma-informed practices
Foster family and community engagement through partnerships and events
Supervise and coach teachers and staff
Collaborate on behavior assessments and interventions for students with IEPs
Oversee professional development on classroom management and behavioral practices
Resolve conflicts among students, staff, and families
Use data to evaluate culture initiatives and inform decisions
Report on culture metrics to leadership
Model professionalism, equity, and commitment to student success
Who You Are Master’s Degree in Education, Leadership, Special Education, or related field
Minimum 3 years of teaching or school culture dean experience
At least 2 years of school leadership, including coaching experience
Strong commitment to anti-racism, culturally responsive teaching, and trauma-informed practices
Experience with restorative justice and SEL initiatives
Proven ability to develop and inspire teachers
Excellent relationship-building skills

Additional Leadership Areas Develop and lead school culture and student engagement strategies
Implement restorative justice and trauma-informed practices
Support teachers in classroom and relationship-building practices
Lead student leadership programs
Analyze culture data and lead improvement initiatives
Conduct culture walkthroughs and maintain high standards
Behavioral Support & Family Engagement Oversee behavior response systems and discipline practices
Coach staff on classroom management and de-escalation
Handle high-level behavior concerns and develop solutions
Ensure appropriate interventions for social-emotional needs
Drive behavior management systems and policies
Create incentives and consequences for behavior
Analyze attendance and behavior trends, lead initiatives
Family & Community Engagement Build trusting relationships with families
Lead enrollment and retention efforts
Act as primary family liaison
Organize family workshops and events
Partner with community organizations
Coordinate Family Leadership Council activities
Establish communication protocols with families
Attendance & Student Support Improve student attendance and address barriers
Develop early warning and intervention systems
Support student transitions
Leadership & Staff Development Collaborate with leadership team to align priorities
Coach and develop teachers and staff
Provide professional development on SEL, restorative practices, family engagement
Lead school-wide culture initiatives
Intervention & Special Education Compliance Partner on behavior incidents and interventions for students with IEPs
Ensure alignment with restorative and trauma-informed practices
Train teachers on Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports
Teacher Hiring, Coaching & Support Support hiring, coaching, and performance management
Ensure timely performance feedback
Lead performance improvement plans
Leadership & Professional Growth Model professionalism and integrity
Engage in ongoing professional development
Align school goals with organizational priorities
Out of School Time Coordinate with OST leadership to align programs
Support OST staff and operations
