Position Summary
The Director of Revenue Cycle is a key leader responsible for overseeing all facets of revenue cycle operations for our hospice organization. This role ensures timely and accurate billing, coding, collections, and reimbursement processes while driving compliance, operational efficiency, and financial sustainability. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with deep healthcare finance knowledge—especially within hospice or home health services—and a commitment to integrity and compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all revenue cycle functions, including patient registration, insurance verification, coding, billing, collections, and denial management
- Ensure regulatory and billing compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, commercial payers, and hospice-specific guidelines
- Develop and monitor KPIs to improve cash flow, reduce AR days, and enhance revenue performance
- Collaborate with clinical, operational, and financial departments to align documentation and billing practices
- Oversee and mentor revenue cycle staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Implement technologies and process improvements to streamline workflow and maximize reimbursement
- Analyze payer trends, contract performance, and reimbursement models to support strategic decisions
- Prepare regular reports for executive leadership on financial outcomes, risks, and opportunities
- Lead strategic payer engagement initiatives to optimize reimbursement processes for hospice services, including contract negotiations, payer relations, and resolution of complex billing issues, resulting in improved cash flow and reduced denial rates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, Economics or related field required
- Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive leadership in revenue cycle management, preferably within hospice or post-acute care
- Deep understanding of CMS regulations, hospice billing requirements, and insurance processes
- Proven experience in payer engagement and contract negotiation within hospice or post-acute care settings, including managing payer relationships, resolving complex reimbursement issues, and driving improvements in denial management and cash flow.
- Proven experience with EMR systems and revenue cycle platforms (e.g HomeCare Home Base)
- Exceptional leadership, analytical, and communication skills
