We are seeking an experienced and dynamic R&D Director to lead our Engineering Services team. This pivotal role will shape the future of our R&D efforts, focusing on developing innovative catheter designs from initial concept through to design transfer into manufacturing. This is a hands-on leadership role that requires a leader who is passionate about both team leadership and technical execution.
As the R&D Director, you will be a key player in our leadership team and a site leader for our New Hope location. You\'ll work directly with our customers to understand their needs, timelines, and technical requirements, and will host them on-site. You will also be responsible for ensuring a smooth transfer of new product lines to our manufacturing sites within one hour of the Twin Cities, which will require occasional travel.
What You'll Do
Lead the recruitment, development, and management of the Engineering team, fostering a culture of expertise, collaboration, and rapid response.
Drive product and process development, ensuring alignment with medical guidelines and customer needs.
Engage directly with customers on product development, prototyping, and project updates.
Work cross-functionally to ensure a seamless handover of new products into Operations.
Provide leadership and support for a team that includes an engineering supervisor, senior engineers, technicians, a production supervisor, and approximately 10-15 operators.
Help define and execute safety initiatives.
What We're Looking For
Must-Have Skills & Qualifications
Minimum of 7 years of experience in an engineering capacity with a strong focus on R&D.
Proven managerial experience leading an engineering team, with Director-level experience preferred.
Demonstrated experience in catheter design.
Prior experience working in a Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO).
Bachelor\'s degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, or other relevant engineering field.
