The Position
Reporting to the hospital’s CEO, the primary function of the Director of Radiology is to plan, direct and coordinate administrative activities of the Radiology Department of the hospital. The position conducts studies and implements changes to improve internal operations of the department and advises staff and supervisors on administrative changes. This leader assists the CEO and the CFO in the preparation of the department budget and directs and coordinates personnel activities of department. The Director recommends cost saving methods and hospital supply changes to effect economy of department operations. Interprets, prepares and distributes statistical data regarding department operations. Frequent key tasks include, but are not limited to:
Working closely with the Senior Management Team and other clinical and administrative department Directors/Managers
Management and supervision of radiology techs and other department employees
Maintaining responsibility and accountability for all department budgetary activities including specifying, ordering, installing, and maintaining all pertinent equipment
Developing, implementing, and revising protocols and standards of care
Maintaining established policies and procedures, departmental objectives, quality standards and patient safety standards
Establishing patient confidentially procedures for protection of patient information
Ensuring the department maintains 24-hour coverage to include on-call and call-back protocols in conjunction with hospital policy
Establishing proper radiation protection and precautions, and procedures necessary to operate radiographic, fluoroscopic, and department portable equipment
Showing competency to operate all equipment organic to the department
The Successful Candidate
The Director of Radiology will possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to play a key role in the clinical leadership of this health system. These competencies include, but are not limited to, the following:
3+ years of supervisory level experience in a hospital radiology department
Certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and current, valid, unencumbered license to practice in the State of Louisiana
Current BLS
Proficiency with MS Office and common web applications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Excellent leadership skills
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with physicians, leaders, and other team members at all levels of the organization
Exceptional problem-solving skills
