We have been retained by an industry leading organization within the Energy/Renewables sector who is actively seeking a Director of Purchasing to a recently announced retirement. Reporting to the President, this candidate will lead the purchasing department while being tasked with optimizing processes, reducing costs, and developing supplier partnerships.

POSITION OVERVIEW Reporting to the President, the Director of Purchasing will be responsible for leading (2) direct reports while assuming ownership over Purchasing, Materials, and Warehouse Operations of a $100M organization. This will be a "hands on" position in which the Director will be responsible for Optimizing Processes, Driving standardization, and most importantly, reducing costs and developing supplier partnerships for production materials, component parts, capital equipment, and vendor services. The position has change management and process development elements to instill best practices and continuous improvement initiatives. The Director will plan, direct and coordinate all procurement activities to limit costs and improve lead times, quality, and customer service. Leads departmental strategic initiatives focused on systemic improvements to ensure achievement of corporate objectives. Lead supplier negotiations on spend. Challenge vendor pricing. Initiate and monitor cost savings projects. Develops reporting and budgets based on supply and demand, market dynamics and other requirements.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or Technical field preferred. Advanced education and/or professional certifications considered a plus (MBA, Master's Degree Supply Chain, CPIM, CCP, APICS, etc..) Candidate should have at least 3-5 years of Strategic Purchasing experience within leadership capacity. Candidate acknowledges that this is a "hands on" position that will be forward facing as it relates to team building (personnel development), developing "strategic" supplier partnerships, supplier/vendor negotiations, and process optimization.
