Director of Product Portfolio Development
New Yesterday
Overview
Everspring combines technology, marketing expertise, and instructional design into outcome-driven services and solutions. We’re looking for a Director of Product Portfolio Development who can read the market, shape and define winning solutions, establish value-based pricing, and equip sales and marketing with clear offers that accelerate growth and deliver repeatable client value. This role sits at the intersection of market research, product strategy, and execution. You’ll take the reins across cross-functional teams to clearly define services, scope what’s in them, and build momentum from idea to in-market offer. A natural influencer and hands-on operator, you’ll collaborate with Sales, B2B, functional teams, and Operations to shape a portfolio that reflects the market—and wins in it. This role reports to the VP of Growth and is located in Chicago, with a hybrid work environment requiring a minimum of 3 days in-office each week (additional days as business needs arise).
Responsibilities
Shape new offers fast from market signals and client demand.
Respond to opportunity with clear, outcome-driven services and bundles.
Drive cross-functional momentum—align Sales, Marketing, and Delivery around the same plan.
Steer the portfolio toward category-leading, repeatable solutions.
Set value-based pricing & scope that win deals and protect margins.
Operationalize what works—pilot, measure, iterate, scale.
Responsibilities (continued)
Translate market signals into the leading portfolio of solutions by continuously scanning higher education market trends, enrollment challenges, student acquisition dynamics, and workforce/skills trends.
Interact with prospects, customers, and key stakeholders to understand needs and pain points and turn that knowledge into actionable product strategies.
Prioritize problems we can solve with the highest market and revenue potential.
Champion market and customer research initiatives that shape strategic decisions and sharpen competitive edge.
Design & Evolve the Solution Portfolio
Organize core capabilities (digital marketing, enrollment strategy, instructional design, technology enablement, consulting) into modular, market-ready services and solution bundles.
Define each solution’s outcomes, scope, boundaries, and success metrics.
Build delivery playbooks for efficient, scalable execution.
Lead the development of sales enablement materials (decks, one-pagers, case studies).
Establish Pricing & Scoping Discipline
Develop cost-to-serve models and value-based pricing frameworks.
Standardize scoping templates to avoid one-off custom proposals.
Align pricing tiers with client value and delivery efficiency.
Enable Sales & Marketing
Drive cross-functional alignment with product, sales, customer success, and strategy teams to deliver unified go-to-market execution.
Equip sales with compelling offerings, sales collateral, and internal training so they can confidently position new offers in market.
Partner with marketing to craft problem-centered stories and campaigns tied to client needs.
Ensure every offering has clear messaging and positioning for external audiences.
Operationalize for Scalable Delivery
Collaborate with delivery teams to codify processes, roles, and SLAs.
Ensure handoff from sales to delivery is seamless and repeatable.
Create a feedback loop with delivery teams to continuously refine solutions.
Run Validation & Iteration Loops
Pilot new offerings with select clients.
Measure performance, refine scope and pricing, and roll out once proven.
Qualifications
7–10+ years of experience in higher education services or consulting.
Proven track record of building and launching market-facing solutions or offerings for complex solution portfolios.
Strong commercial acumen — expertise in pricing strategy, business case development, and value modeling.
Understand the Higher Education market and its customer personas.
Demonstrated ability to package abstract capabilities into clear, sellable solutions.
Experience working cross-functionally with sales, marketing, and delivery teams and influencing across functions without formal authority.
Excellent client-facing skills and the ability to represent solutions in market conversations.
Strategic thinker who thrives on creating structure, repeatability, and scale.
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred (MBA, M.Ed., or related field).
Ability to travel once per month to conferences, prospect visits, and industry events.
