Director of Process Engineering – Beauty & Cosmetics

Location: Bergen County, NJ

A leading innovation-driven beauty manufacturer is seeking a strategic Director of Process Engineering to lead process development, scale-up, and optimization across topical skincare and cosmetic product lines.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee process design and scale-up for creams, lotions, gels, and emulsions Lead continuous improvement efforts using cGMP, Lean, and Six Sigma methodologies Manage and mentor a team of engineers and technicians Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Regulatory, and Production on tech transfers and product launches Ensure compliance with FDA (OTC), ISO, and other regulatory standards Support CAPAs, investigations, and process validation activities Drive process engineering support for new product introductions and capital projects Maintain process documentation including SOPs, batch records, and process flow diagrams

Qualifications

Bachelor’s in Chemical or Process Engineering (Master’s preferred) 7+ years of process engineering experience in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, or related regulated industry 5+ years in a leadership or managerial role Expertise in emulsification, mixing, homogenization, and filling technologies Strong knowledge of FDA 21 CFR Part 210/211, ICH, and OTC regulations Proficiency with statistical tools (Minitab, JMP) and process automation is a plus
