Overview The Director of Process Engineering position is an exciting opportunity for the successful individual to join the PM Group Leadership team out of our quickly growing Raleigh-Durham area team located out of Apex, NC. They are an integral part of supporting our ongoing expansion in the US as we continue executing cutting-edge projects for Cell & Gene Therapy, Biologics, and Pharma facilities – from feasibility through to qualification – for both local and international clients. Together, with our clients and partners, we will deliver projects that improve the everyday lives of people across the globe. This is a client facing and leadership position that will require the ability to inspire confidence in staff as well as from 1st client contact through proposal preparation and project execution. The ability to motivate and mentor others in a dynamic growing office environment is required. Proven design excellence experience in complex (life sciences / biopharma / pharmaceutical) facilities is desired. Responsibilities Essential Job Functions: Provide Leadership to the PM Group Raleigh-Durham area Process Engineering Team Be a part of the Leadership Team within the Raleigh-Durham area office and overall East Coast operation Act as an Ambassador for the Company, as you interact with our clients providing excellent services Lead, execute and oversee conceptual design studies Lead, execute and oversee detailed engineering projects, directly and through the supervision of other engineers Duties and Responsibilities: Leadership of the Raleigh-Durham area Process Engineering team Ability to lead designs from feasibility and concept stage, including presentation of process options to our clients and optimization of the selected design Carry out detailed engineering: preparation of process / clean utility calculations, drawings, reports, etc., directly and through supervision of other engineers Strong understanding of GMP facility requirements: GMP material and personnel flows, clean room design requirements, compendial water requirements, impacts of open versus closed processing, etc. Experience making decisions and resolving process design problems typical to biopharmaceutical projects: selecting optimum Water for Injection generation & distribution philosophies, determining design case for flexible GMP single use facilities, developing process and clean utility expansion strategies for facility growth, etc. Liaise and coordinate with PM Groups different disciplines and offices as well as external consultants Mass Balance, PFD and P&ID development for typical Life Science process unit operations (bioreactors, chromatography, fill finish, etc.) Clean utility system design – generation and distribution of purified water, WFI, clean steam and process gases Process equipment design and specification for both stainless steel and single use equipment Present PM Group’s process engineering capability to potential clients in support of proposals Travel as required for design workshops, HAZOPs, GMP review, etc. Drive recruitment activities for the local Process Engineering team and help support the efforts across the US Other special projects as assigned Qualifications Degree in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent engineering degree with relevant experience) Master's in engineering management or equivalent is considered an advantage 15+ Years professional experience as a process engineer with experience in the design of Life Sciences facilities is required Previous experience managing Process Engineers is preferred Clear, positive, and collaborative oral and written communication skills with clients and team members Self-motivated and self-organized professional looking to lead designs and make an impact in the life science industries Ability to play a positive role in multi-discipline teams with a reliable, consistent, and mature approach to work International experience is a plus An ethical approach to safety, quality, environmental protection, and business Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients and peers at all levels, with good presentation skills All of your information is confidential according to EEO guidelines.
