This is a foundational leadership role, responsible for building the people systems and cultural infrastructure that will power our next phase of growth – scaling from 5 stores today in Los Angeles, to ~11 stores across LA and OC by 2027 You’ll sit at the table with our COO, Founders and leadership team, owning everything from organizational design and talent strategy to workforce experience. You know how to zoom out to architect systems and scale, but you’re also hands-on enough to get in the trenches during hiring days or help onboard a new GM. What You'll Do People Strategy & Leadership Partner with the Founders, COO and leadership team to design a scalable, people-first roadmap for growth Lead workforce planning, org design, and change management across functions Build the systems and playbooks that turn great ideas into consistent execution Talent Acquisition & Hiring Events Oversee end-to-end hiring strategy for hourly and management roles, ensuring hiring velocity supports unit growth Partner with your Training Coordinator to coordinate high-impact hiring days and support new restaurant openings (NROs) Optimize candidate experience and manager readiness for interviewing and selection Training & Culture Design and lead programs that drive engagement, career path development, and retention Partner with field leaders and GMs to ensure our culture scales with our footprint Roll out employee feedback loops and data-informed strategies to improve team experience Systems, Ops & Compliance Build and manage processes that ensure compliance, efficiency, and clarity from onboarding to exit Own and optimize tools like HRIS, scheduling, onboarding, and performance systems Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws (especially California!) Support your Training Coordinator on systems for hourly onboarding, training, and new unit support Why Join Us? Play a pivotal role in building a brand that’s expanding with intention Join a close-knit leadership team where your voice matters Shape the employee experience for a company that believes culture is a strategic advantage Competitive compensation, food perks, benefits, and room to grow What We’re Looking For 6-8 years in People Ops or HR with increasing responsibilities and leadership scope, ideally in restaurant, hospitality or retail environments Prior experience at a startup or early-stage, multi-unit company where you had to build structure that did not previously exist Demonstrated success in a scaling environment, ideally growing from 5-10 to 20-30+ units Proven HRBP capabilities: partnering with operators, driving people decisions, and navigating ambiguity People-centered leader with strong business acumen, with equal parts coach, architect and operator Strong working knowledge of California labor laws Spanish-speaking a plus Pay Range: $130,000-$150,000 plus discretionary bonus. Final compensation will be dependent upon skills & experience.
