The Director of People Development is responsible for designing, executing, and continually optimizing an organization-wide learning and development framework that aligns with business goals and drives workforce capability, performance, engagement and succession. This strategic leadership role will ensure that learning initiatives are innovative, measurable, and future-focused to support talent development across all levels of the organization.
Strategic Direction: Primary goal is to ensure that the training solutions and coaching strategies delivered through Crowder YOUniversity match the current and future needs of our employees, to ensure sustainability through succession, retention of high performers and ongoing return on investment in the training offered.
Strategic Focus includes:
Develop and implement an overarching learning strategy that fosters a high-performing, learning - oriented culture, supporting organizational goals, employee development, management / leadership growth and succession.
Lead and direct People Development team to deliver training solutions that strengthen leadership and team performance across the organization.
Support Division leadership in building the leadership pipeline-identifying high-potential employees with clear succession strategies, strengthening overall team to build a solid talent bench.
Ensure ongoing needs assessments are conducted as relevant to identify skills gaps / learning priorities for Crowder YOU as well as ROI goals and assessments to ensure training metrics are being met.
Key Responsibility Areas:
Crowder YOUniversity Program Design and Implementation: Lead the design, development, and delivery of scalable learning programs for all employees in all stages of their career path, including new hire/rehire training, craft skills training, technical training, project management / field supervision, leadership development and any relevant compliance training.
Work with People Development Manager, Employee Services Director and Corporate Safety Director and Division leadership to ensure the Stage 1 - Onboarding process for new hires and rehires results in a great start at Crowder, and that the process for supporting the first 90 days encourages retention of high performers.
Promote upskilling in areas like project and field management, safety, and critical path administrative roles.
Leverage HR tech platforms such as learning management systems (LMS), performance tracking, career pathing, e-learning, artificial intelligence and microlearning tools.
Ensure learning solutions are engaging, measurable, and aligned with our culture, established learning principles and effective instructional design.
Collaborative Engagement: Partner with Corporate and Division leadership to ensure learning strategies address critical and future business needs.
Serve as a thought leader on People Development within Crowder, focusing on capability building and continuous learning so that people are more likely to achieve their potential.
Demonstrate accountability for outcomes and communicate learning goals and results clearly to all key managers/leaders.
Team Leadership: Supervise the People Development Manager and support the Crowder YOUniversity team to grow their talents and continue their career path at Crowder while delivering the best training solutions across the organization.
Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the team and ensure that culture extends in all relationships throughout the organization.
Preferred Master's or Bachelor's degree in Adult Learning Theory / Education, Instructional Design or Organizational Development -or- equivalent and extensive combination of certifications and training experience
Preferred Certifications: ATD - Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD)
AIHR Organizational Development Certificate
SHRM - Senior Certified Professional (SCP) -or- HRCI- Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR)
8-10+ years of experience in learning and development, with at least 3-5 years in a strategic or director-level role
Preferred experience in or near the construction industry
Exceptional communication and facilitation skills
Direct experience in personality and workplace behavior assessments (preferably the Workplace Big Five as well as others)
Advanced Computer Skills and strong affinity for progressive applications
