The primary responsibility of this position is the daily direct care services of the facility in a professional manner using its resources effectively and efficiently to attain and maintain the highest level of care to residents in accordance with regulatory standards. Responsible for supervision of the direct care staff to include training, overseeing, motivating and evaluating department staff.
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Associate Degree in Nursing, or a Diploma in Nursing. Additional course work in management an asset.
Minimum Experience: Minimum of four years working in geriatric nursing, including experience with medication administration, delivery systems and pharmacies preferred. Two years in supervisory/management position, with experience with budgets, staff development, training and scheduling preferred.
License, Certification, Registration: Must be licensed as an RN, in good standing with the State of Alaska.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
o Mathematical Skills - Ability to maintain basic financial records of expenditures of the department. Able to understand budgets.
o Reasoning Ability - Ability to accurately assess residents and staff needs, problem-solve to meet those needs, to develop training for staffs needs, and to evaluate results. Individual must be a team player, well organized, and flexible.
