About the Role
We are excited to announce an opportunity for a dynamic Director of Nursing and Public Health Advocacy to spearhead our global professional membership organization. This position offers a chance to make a significant impact in promoting the health, welfare, and rights of individuals living with HIV. The successful candidate will lead our efforts in advocating for a human-rights-centered HIV agenda through education and policy development.
The Director will play a crucial role in facilitating our members' active participation in national and international policy discussions and in the creation of programs that enhance nursing education related to HIV/AIDS treatment, prevention, and research. You will also lead our fundraising initiatives and manage our substantial annual operating budget while providing strategic leadership to fulfill our mission and long-term objectives.
Qualified applicants should possess a minimum of 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in nursing, public health, or nonprofit management, complemented by an advanced degree in a relevant field. A strong understanding of current issues in nursing, HIV care, and public health is essential, along with a proven ability to secure grants and effectively manage nonprofit financial operations. Experience collaborating with a nonprofit Board of Directors, fostering a strong team culture, and engaging in legislative/policy advocacy—particularly in the realms of HIV or healthcare—is invaluable.
This role requires a critical thinker with outstanding interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills who is passionate about diversity, inclusion, and social justice. Occasional travel is expected, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines is essential to your success in this role.
