St. Joseph Parish in Erie, MI, is seeking a candidate to fill a position for the music ministry in our parish.
This candidate should be one who is knowledgeable in the various liturgical seasons of the Catholic Church, as well as one who has an initiative to arrange music for the glory and honor of our Blessed Lord within the Liturgy.
The qualifications for this position are:
Plan, select, and prepare music for weekend liturgies, Holy Days of Obligation, weekday Masses (as required), weddings, funerals, and periodic seasonal services, in collaboration with the priests in our Family of Parishes. Demonstrated ability to judge appropriateness of music for the Liturgy. Communicates clearly, effectively, and regularly with clergy, staff, and volunteers. Participates in all required staff meetings within the parish. Actively practicing Catholic with demonstrated knowledge of Roman Catholic liturgy, role of music within the liturgy, familiarity with liturgical documents, the various rites and music resources, the General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM), and Lectionary. Minimum 3-5 years of experience as an organist within a Catholic church environment required.
