Summary
The Director of Memory Care oversees all aspects of the Aspyre Memory Care Program at Modena Cherry Creek, including resident assessments, programming, staffing, training, and family support. This role ensures that residents receive exceptional clinical and emotional care, while also providing leadership, education, and direction to the memory care team. The Director serves as a key liaison between residents, families, physicians, hospitals, and community organizations such as the local Alzheimer’s Association.
This position is designed for Aspyre neighborhoods with 30 or more residents.
Director of Memory Care Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Plan, develop, organize, and evaluate the Aspyre neighborhood programs, services, and activities in compliance with federal, state, and company standards.
Lead and manage the Memory Care team: hire, train, schedule, evaluate, and coach team members to ensure exceptional resident care.
Conduct pre-move-in and ongoing resident assessments, create individualized care plans, and monitor changes in health status.
Provide orientation and ongoing dementia-specific training for caregivers in compliance with state and federal requirements.
Ensure adequate staffing and departmental coverage while adhering to company policies and budget.
Serve as primary contact and resource for residents, families, and physicians. Coordinate care services to ensure continuity and high standards.
Lead service plan meetings, maintain accurate documentation in resident care systems, and complete all required data entry.
Participate in marketing efforts, tours, and referral development to support census growth.
Support administration during community inspections and ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards.
Maintain a safe and engaging environment for residents with dementia, tailoring activities and care strategies to individual needs.
Promote teamwork and collaboration across departments and maintain a professional, positive image of the community.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
Director of Memory Care Qualifications
Education
Preferred: Two years of college in gerontology, nursing, social work, or a related health or human service field.
Licensed professionals in nursing or related disciplines strongly preferred.
Experience
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in residential care for older adults.
Experience with specialized dementia care programs preferred.
Skills & Abilities
Strong leadership, coaching, and organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills (oral and written) with ability to connect with residents, families, team members, and outside agencies.
Ability to problem-solve, make sound decisions under stress, and adapt to changing resident needs.
Proficiency in basic office software and resident care documentation systems.
Compassionate, patient, and dedicated to enhancing the lives of cognitively impaired older adults.
Additional Requirements
Must pass a state-required criminal background check.
Must possess current First Aid training.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job, including mobility and occasional lifting.
