We're looking for a strategic and hands-on Director of Marketing to bring greater alignment, focus, and impact to our marketing efforts across Shaffer Distributing and Shaffer Entertainment.
This is a unique opportunity to join a collaborative, growing team and help us strengthen how we show up in the market - through sharper messaging, stronger digital presence, better tools for our sales team, and more consistent visibility across the industries we serve.
You'll work across both divisions of a 96-year-old, employee-owned company - one with a solid foundation and the energy of a startup. Your work will help amplify the voices of the team, the value we provide our customers, and the purpose that drives us.
Who We Are
Shaffer is a family-founded, employee-owned business with deep roots in the arcade equipment distribution and amusement operations space. For decades, we've supported customers in the family entertainment, vending, bar & restaurant, and route operations industries.
We've grown significantly in recent years and are focused on the future - evolving our structure, strengthening our divisions, and investing in the tools and roles that will help us grow. This role is a key part of that forward momentum.
What You'll Do
This role will bring structure, direction, and clarity to our marketing function - helping unify our efforts across brands, support our sales teams, and tell our story more effectively across multiple channels.
Key areas of responsibility include: Brand Strategy & Messaging Help shape and unify how we present ourselves to the market Create a message that reflects both where we've been and where we're going Clarify how our offerings connect to what our customers care about
Digital Presence, Campaigns & Content Lead development and optimization of our websites and content strategy Strengthen our presence on social media and other digital channels Develop digital materials that support visibility and customer engagement Track and analyze digital marketing performance to provide insight
Sales Enablement Build out consistent, on-brand sales tools and collateral Support the sales team with templates, messaging, and customer-facing materials
Tradeshow & Event Marketing Help improve & align the planning and messaging behind every event Support pre-show, onsite, and post-show strategy and materials
Marketing Planning & Execution Develop a marketing roadmap that aligns with business priorities Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners Drive consistency, clarity, and follow-through across initiatives
This is a collaborative, team-centered role. You'll work closely with sales, leadership, and vendor partners - helping amplify the impact of others and bringing a marketing lens to cross-functional conversations.
Location: Columbus, Ohio (In-office, Full Time) Travel: 10% travel to tradeshows, vendor sites, or customer locations
What You Bring 7+ years of hands-on marketing experience, including brand, digital, and content strategy. Proven ability to plan and execute campaigns that drive awareness, engagement, and leads. Proficiency with CRM and marketing automation platforms. Strong writing and content development skills across formats (web, email, print, etc.). Ability to create and edit visual and video content. Experience supporting tradeshows or events from a marketing perspective, a plus. Experience with eCommerce strategy or execution, a plus.
