Job Purpose
As the Director of Marketing at Habitat for Humanity of the Chesapeake, you will develop creative content and marketing products, implement social media strategies, track analytics, maintain website operations, coordinate events, and represent HFHC with the highest integrity. You serve as our Brand Officer, primary media contact, and direct internal communications. Your contributions will have a direct impact on our mission to provide affordable housing solutions.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties: Develop marketing and communications strategy to promote the mission of HFHC in coordination with the Chief Development & Marketing Officer Provide supervision and strategic direction to the Communications Team. Develop marketing plans for each department, reflect their needs with special emphasis on ReStore retail marketing. Serve as Brand Officer, assuring quality and branding for all creative content and marketing products for the organization. Serve as the point of contact with media and facilitate media opportunities for HFHC leaders Coordinate with the CEO and leadership team to facilitate internal and external communications needs and strategies. Manage budget for Communications and Marketing. Specific Responsibilities: Provide oversight and develop strategies for creative content for social and digital media across platforms like Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and TikTok. Ensure accurate and timely messaging and maintenance for the website and track web and social media analytics. Work closely with the leadership of ReStore operations and facilitate effective marketing strategies to increase customer traffic. Oversee the development of marketing campaigns for various groups and initiatives. Maintain the marketing and business development contact system and generate lists for marketing efforts. Coordinate with external marketing vendors and media companies to ensure efficient delivery of services. Ensure quality and brand consistency with all promotional material creation. Facilitate the creation of press releases, media relations content, and other written materials. Oversee detailed and effective event planning. Direct and coordinate HFHC Marketing staff attendance at in-person at events by coordinating attendees, capturing relevant photos, and providing requested material. Perform additional duties as assigned. Collaboration Coordinate with HFHI to assure compliance with all corporate brand standards. Work closely with the HFHC Development Team to assure logos, social media, and other communication tools are utilized and respected according to fundraising plans and partnership agreements. Coordinate closely with other departments of HFHC, especially ReStore, homeowner services, volunteer services and construction to assist with their marketing and communication needs. Coordinate with the Director of Development and the Development Team to assist with their fundraising and marketing needs. Work closely with Donor Information Manager to ensure appropriate reporting and tracking of marketing metrics. Contribute to a positive team culture within the Advancement & Marketing department as well as other departments of HFHC. Safety Understand and operate by safe work practices at all our locations and events to ensure we meet, if not exceed, OSHA and Habitat safety policies and procedures Immediately notify management of any safety related incident and/or respond to a report involving Habitat or any other related team members (workers, volunteers, and subcontractors) Support any safety incident investigations. Preferred Qualifications and Experience Associate or bachelor's degree in marketing, communication, journalism, business administration, or related discipline. 3-5 years of marketing and communication experience expected. Experience with staff supervision preferred. Experience in retail marketing preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience with Microsoft Teams, Mondays, Canva and other project software. Ability to communicate effectively with senior management, corporate donors, and volunteers. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities. Meticulous with a commitment to issue resolution. Initiative-taking with a strong work ethic and a collaborative spirit. Working conditions
This position operates in a professional office environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop/desktop computers, photocopiers and smart phones. Occasional but regular travel to remote facilities and/or sites is necessary, this can include active construction sites, retail sites, events, meetings, and vendor locations and may require you to be outside in various weather conditions. This is an office-based position but may allow for remote work up to 2 days per week.
Physical Requirements
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required which would require the ability to lift files up to 25 LBS, event materials, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. This job may require prolonged times of sitting. Dexterity to use office equipment. This role may travel to jobsites, events and offsite meetings and would need to comply with the organization's safety guidelines. A valid driver's license required.
