The Director of Marketing is responsible for leading the Credit Union's strategic marketing efforts to drive member growth, increase member engagement, drive product and service adoption, strengthen the organization's brand, and deepen community engagement. This role oversees all marketing functions, including budgeting, demand generation, digital marketing, advertising, communications, community relations, and market research, ensuring alignment with the credit union's mission, values, strategic plan, and reporting on marketing performance metrics and the return on investment (ROI) for various initiatives, projects, and campaigns. Ensure all marketing and communications comply with NCUA regulations, advertising laws, and brand guidelines.
Strategy:
Develops, proposes, gains acceptance for, and implements a comprehensive multi-channel marketing strategy that aligns with the Credit Union's strategic goals, designed to meet the Credit Union's short- and long-term marketing objectives.
Brand Management:
Strengthen and evolve the Credit Union's brand identity to ensure consistent and effective branding across all channels and touchpoints. Oversee brand positioning, messaging, and identity to reflect the credit union's mission and values. Developing compelling and persuasive marketing content, including copywriting for digital and print materials. Overseeing creative direction and working closely with graphic designers and external vendors to produce high-quality marketing assets.
Demand Generation and Lead Conversion:
Implement lead generation strategies, track and manage to drive new member acquisition and deepen relationships with existing members. Enhance and optimize the lead conversion funnel, ensuring a seamless transition from marketing-qualified leads to sales-qualified leads for improved conversion and growth.
Digital Marketing Oversight:
Execute digital marketing initiatives, including website optimization, email marketing, SEO/SEM, paid advertising, and social media engagement to effectively engage potential members and grow new business.
Market Research and Data Analytics:
Leverage data analytics, market research, member segmentation, and performance tracking to gain insights into member behavior and preferences, using this information to drive targeted marketing efforts, improve campaign performance, measure ROI, and performance reporting.
Member Communications:
Development and delivery of internal and external communications, including newsletters, promotional materials, member education campaigns, and PR initiatives.
Community and Events:
Coordinates special events; monitors planning, schedules and implementation as required for proper execution of each event. Coordinates the annual meeting, including production of reports, facilities, and meeting logistics.
Leadership/Collaboration:
Collaborate with external partners, and internal stakeholders, including sales, operations, and member services, to ensure a cohesive marketing approach that supports organizational goals and enhances the member experience.
Performance Measurements:
Deliver planned results within budget, meeting the Credit Union's growth objective with respect to new member groups. Accomplish all assigned projects according to established policy and procedures and within budget. Conduct on-site visits with business partners each quarter and submit a report outlining progress including any follow-up action steps. Provide direction and recommendations to management, based on current research data, regarding market strategies and directions the credit union should take. Proactively participate in at least one regular networking opportunity within the community as a representative of the Credit Union. Meet or exceed the Credit Union's planned market share, asset growth, loan growth, and other product/service objectives as stated in the current business plan. Ensure brand consistency and accuracy across all delivery channels and marketing media.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience:
Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education:
(1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
Interpersonal Skills:
The role requires motivating and influencing both internal leaders and external stakeholders to achieve key organizational goals. Building and maintaining strong external relationships is essential not only to the success of this position, but to the organization as a whole. The role also involves delivering impactful presentations to the Board of Directors, community leaders, and business partners.
Other Skills:
Results-oriented digital marketing professional with deep expertise in search engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM), social media strategy (including reputation management), email marketing, and paid digital media. Skilled in leveraging both push and pull digital marketing techniques across websites, blogs, email, text messaging, RSS feeds, and emerging social channels to drive customer acquisition and engagement.
Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously within fast-paced, growth-oriented environments. Strong analytical skills with a track record of transforming data into strategic insights that guide business-critical decisions. Fully proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and a range of marketing and analytics platforms.
Extensive knowledge of the credit union industry and retail financial services sector, with a clear understanding of regulatory considerations, member needs, and competitive positioning within the financial marketplace.
Physical Requirements:
Must have the ability to perform repetitive tasks using fingers, hands, and wrists, includingtyping, mouse operation, paper handling, and telephone use. Visual and auditory demandsare consistent with those found in a typical office environment. Strong interpersonalcommunication skills are essential, with the ability to interact effectively via email,telephone, or in person with professionalism, tact, and courtesy across a range of situations.
Must also be capable of operating a motor vehicle to travel between branch locations for purposes such as verifying digital signage functionality, attending community events, and fulfilling other off-site responsibilities essential to the role.
Work Environment Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time in a climate-controlled environment.
