The Director of Operations for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics has overall site responsibility for the manufacturing operations located in Hebron, KY. The site manufactures consumables for Hematology, Immunoassay, Urinalysis, and Life Science/Flow Cytometry, essential to Beckman Coulter Diagnostics and Life Science businesses.
This position leads the manufacturing team in Hebron, KY, and reports to the VP of Manufacturing. It is an onsite role. At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Provide leadership and direction to the site to manage safety, finances, and staffing, while meeting product quality, delivery, and productivity standards.
- Hire, develop, and retain talent in support of site goals and customers' expectations.
- Drive continuous process improvement.
- Generate budgets and control expenses related to labor, controllable expenses, and manufacturing variances.
- Partner/interact with the site's functions such as materials, procurement, quality, and EHS.
- Coach the team through product and process-related technical investigations.
- Influence the direction and future state vision for device manufacturing.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor's Degree in a Technical Discipline (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry) or Engineering (e.g., Chemical Engineering)
- 6+ years of experience managing teams in a GMP-regulated environment, with a strong understanding of quality systems and compliance protocols.
- 20+ years of experience in manufacturing environment, including capacity vs. demand assessment, and decision-making across safety, process, scheduling, and personnel.
- Proven leadership in manufacturing operations, with hands-on experience overseeing filling processes and upstream product preparation activities such as mixing, blending, and compounding.
- 7+ years of experience driving lean manufacturing and continuous improvement, including use of structured problem-solving tools like 5-whys and root cause analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and explain financial statements and P&Ls, and present proposals for business processes and capital expenditures.
- Ability to gown for entry into aseptic manufacturing areas
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environmental Requirements:
- Ability to travel - 15%, overnight, within territory or locations
- Ability to lift, move, or carry equipment up to 20lb, any other physical requirements
