Apprentice license issuance including creating and maintaining apprentice files and review and approval of apprentice application. Maintain and update listing of pre-approved continuing education. Supervise Licensing Division: Oversight of the entire licensing division including staff assignments when applicable; training; coaching; and direct supervision of licensing staff. Responsible for performance management of licensing staff. Responsible for licensing program maintenance and development, licensing audits. Reviews licensing policies and procedures for compliance with Kansas laws and provides recommendations to the Director for needed changes. Responsible for licensing forms and applications maintenance and updating. Responsible for answering and managing more complex licensing questions and situations. Process School Applications: Responsible for processing new and renewal cosmetology profession school applications. Maintain school files. Maintain contact with field staff and school owners during the process. Respond to any questions the facility owner may have. Update information in database relative to the school licensure. Responsible for maintaining and updating a listing of pre-approved continuing education for instructors. Maintain and update Kansas Cosmetology school listing to submit for posting on the website. Responsible for review and approval of school field study requests. Responsible for creating, maintaining, updating and submitting for website post all forms and applications concerning Instructors. 50 Years of Service Recognition Program: Responsible for organizing the recognition program for licensees. This includes selection, preparation of the award letter, creation of the award certificate, and submitting to the Newsletter editor. Other Duties as Assigned Completes miscellaneous duties as assigned by the supervisor, executive director, or board members. Minimum Qualifications One year of experience in general office, clerical or administrative support work.Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Special knowledge, skills and abilities High level of organizational and communication skills. Skills in critical thinking and decision making. Ability to interpret laws and regulations. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the public. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
