BACKGROUND:
The National Domestic Workers Alliance (NDWA) is the leading national voice for dignity and fairness for domestic workers in the United States. Founded in 7, NDWA works for the respect, recognition, and inclusion in labor protections of domestic and home care workers across the country. NDWA is winning improved working conditions while building a powerful movement rooted in the human rights, dignity and equality of domestic workers, home care workers, immigrant women, and Black women.
NDWA was founded in 7 by domestic workers and organizers from around the country. Our national alliance has grown from this founding group of organizations to now more than affiliate organizations, and local chapters developed by NDWA. To date, the Alliance comprises more than , nannies, housekeepers, and home care workers in all states.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Evaluation & Learning will lead the development and implementation of a learning and evaluation framework, aligning with NDWA’s strategic goals and theory of change. This role is pivotal in strengthening our organization with a culture of data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement. By leveraging best practices in data analysis, evaluation, and learning, they will help us refine our approaches to advocacy and organizing, ensuring our impact is both significant and measurable. Working within the newly formed Research & Evaluation department, they will also be instrumental in building and mentoring a team dedicated to amplifying the voices and addressing the needs of domestic workers through insightful analysis and strategic learning.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop and execute a Learning and Evaluation strategy and framework that aligns with NDWA’s new strategic plan, goals, and theory of change.
Lead collaborative efforts with campaign and program leads to monitor and evaluate our impact, fostering an organizational culture that values learning, experimentation, and evidence-based practices.
Conduct rigorous qualitative and quantitative research, employing advanced data analysis techniques to generate insights that inform strategies and improve outcomes.
Analyze, synthesize, and produce key insights and overarching narrative that can easily inform multiple audiences—from domestic workers to philanthropic partners, academic and program partners to press and other external partners
Develop and manage systems and infrastructure for storing program data, monitoring performance indicators, and enabling access to insights across the organization
Hire and supervise a small and growing evaluation team
Train and coach staff and partners on adopting a culture of measurement for learning, ensuring programs evolve based on domestic worker input and data-driven review of what's working
Continuously explore new methods and measurement tools to incorporate domestic worker perspectives, feedback, and lived experience data to guide programs
Engage with external partners and stakeholders, sharing findings and promoting a shared learning culture that advances the broader movement for domestic workers’ rights.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Data Analysis and Visualization Proficiency: Expertise in synthesizing complex qualitative and quantitative data into strategic insights. Proficient in the use of data analytics tools (such as Excel, R, SQL) and data visualization platforms, with the ability to translate findings into actionable recommendations for leadership and program improvement.
Strategic and Adaptive Thinking: Ability to formulate learning frameworks and strategies that are inclusive of equity and social justice considerations, aimed at achieving significant organizational impact. Must be adept at using data and evidence to inform and challenge strategic directions, fostering continuous improvement.
Leadership and Team Management: Proven experience managing and supervising a team, including staff, interns, and consultants. Should demonstrate strong leadership skills, with an emphasis on mentorship, capacity building, and promoting a culture of learning and measurement within the organization.
Collaborative and Communication Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities, capable of working collaboratively across teams and with external partners. Must be skilled at building relationships, facilitating learning, and mobilizing diverse stakeholders around shared goals and strategies.
Commitment to Social Justice: Deeply committed to the principles of social justice, equity, and the empowerment of domestic workers. A passion for elevating the voices and experiences of domestic workers is essential.
Innovative Mindset: Openness to exploring and adopting new methodologies, tools, and practices for evaluation and learning. Should possess an entrepreneurial spirit, capable of innovating within the framework of the organization’s mission to drive improvement and impact.
