Overview
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Director of Human Resources (HR) to lead all aspects of our HR function, aligning people strategy with business goals. The Director of HR will oversee talent acquisition, employee engagement, performance management, compensation/benefits, compliance, and organizational development. This individual will act as a trusted advisor to leadership and a champion of company culture, driving initiatives that foster growth, innovation, and employee satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with company objectives, long-term growth and operational goals.
Serve as a member of the leadership team, providing counsel on people, culture, and organizational effectiveness.
Partner with leadership to scale organizational structure, talent pipelines, and workforce development.
Talent Acquisition & Development
Lead recruitment processes to attract and retain top talent.
Implement training and development programs to support career progression and skills growth.
Drive succession planning for critical roles.
Culture & Engagement
Foster a high-performance culture built on accountability, teamwork, and innovation.
Develop employee engagement programs to reduce turnover and strengthen retention in a competitive labor market.
Conduct regular employee feedback cycles and implement actions to improve culture and morale.
Compliance, Risk Management & Safety
Ensure compliance with California and federal employment laws, including wage and hour regulations, OSHA standards, and labor reporting.
Partner with Operations and EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) teams to support a safe and compliant workplace.
Lead investigations, employee relations, and disciplinary processes with fairness and consistency.
Compensation & Benefits
Manage compensation structures to ensure market competitiveness.
Oversee benefits programs and annual open enrollment.
Partner with finance on workforce budgeting and headcount planning.
HR Operations & Performance Management
Implement and manage HRIS, timekeeping, and payroll systems to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
Oversee performance evaluation processes that align employee contributions with company objectives.
Track and report HR metrics (turnover, absenteeism, training completion, recruitment cycle times).
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master's preferred).
10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, with at least 5 in a senior role.
Strong knowledge of California and federal employment laws required.
Demonstrated experience building HR systems, policies, and strategies in a growing company.
Proven ability to influence executive leadership and lead change management.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Professional certifications such as SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or similar are strongly preferred.
