Director of Fundraising
Summary Duties and Responsibilities:
The Fundraising Director is responsible for steering the organization's philanthropic endeavors, from strategy to execution. This individual will lead a small and dedicated team to help forge strong donor, partner, and interdepartmental relationships. This position will develop, implement, and oversee strategies to increase funding support - including work in grants, foundation relations, individual giving, corporate sponsorships, and special events. The Director will also drive thoughtful fundraising communications.
Essential Functions and Work Duties:

Strategic Fundraising & Team Leadership:
Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan aligned with the organization's mission and goals.
Lead and support the fundraising team to meet or exceed departmental expectations for productivity, quality, continuous improvement, and goal accomplishment.
Build an efficient team centered around respect, appreciation, continuous improvement and accountability.
Effectively facilitate team meetings and set clear team and employee goals.
Guide fundraising practices and policies.
Communicate professionally and persuasively in all correspondence, including emails, written proposals, personal visits, appeal letters, and phone calls.
Work in partnership with the VP of Corporate Affairs to recruit and hire employees for the fundraising team including job applicant screening and hiring decisions.
Coordinate onboarding activities and training for new fundraising staff.
Direct the creation of donor communications, including solicitations, stewardship reports, mission impact stories, renewal letters, and other tailored outreach materials.
Engage with the leadership team to understand departmental needs and suggest overall organizational fundraising priorities.
Manage our Employee Giving campaign, encouraging a culture of philanthropy and demonstrating collective commitment to our mission.
Drive the development and execution of personalized strategies tailored to unique audiences, interests, and giving capacities.
Seek opportunities to invite or accompany the VP of Corporate Affairs and President & CEO on visits with prominent prospects or donors.
Work with the Fundraising Events Manager to ensure the successful administration and growth of our emerging leaders' program, the HAND Collaborative. This includes collaborating on recruitment, engagement, and stewardship.
Grant & Database Management:
Work with the Grants Manager to ensure a proactive, highly successful, and compliant grants program, encompassing meticulous prospect research, compelling proposal writing, timely submission, and comprehensive post-award reporting.
Work closely with the Fundraising Coordinator to proactively identify, research, and qualify donor prospects.
Work closely with the Grants Manager to ensure that we are actively and effectively soliciting, securing, and maintaining grant funding.
Coordinate interdepartmentally to gather necessary information, data, and supporting documents for proposals.
Oversee and ensure the integrity, accuracy, and strategic utilization of Raiser's Edge by maintaining accurate and up-to-date records.
Continuously build team knowledge of the donor database.
Donor Stewardship & Cultivation:
Work with the Communications and Marketing team to develop and share touches that demonstrate impact and encourage deeper engagement.
Develop fundraising and grant reports that showcase progress and identify opportunities.
Work with the Fundraising Events Manager to guide the planning and execution of key events - including an annual fundraiser, donor appreciation events, and cultivation gatherings.
Collaborative & Cross-department Thinking:
Partner strategically with the VP of Corporate Affairs to leverage connections, and advance fundraising opportunities.
Work with the Communications and Marketing team to develop compelling narratives and campaigns that elevate Nevada HAND's brand, enhance visibility, and effectively communicate our impact.
Work with the Community Outreach & Engagement Director and Government Relations to ensure unified outreach strategies, identify collaborative fundraising opportunities, and maximize collective efforts.
Ensure Nevada HAND visibility at a range of community events to build meaningful relationships, expand our reach, and elevate our profile in Southern Nevada.
Perform other duties as from time to time may be determined necessary for the well-being of the total operation.
Coordinate specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments to ensure the smooth and accurate flow of work and information.

Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's Degree required. Master's Degree preferred.
A minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in fundraising or development, with a minimum of two (2) years in a leadership role; within a nonprofit focused on housing, social services, or community development preferred.
Demonstrated track record of establishing impactful funding opportunities, cultivating key prospects, and securing significant donations.
Expert-level proficiency and experience managing or engaging in donor relationship management software. Raiser's Edge experience preferred.

Must be able to exercise sound independent judgment and discretion within assigned role to complete assignments.
Excellent oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
Strong problem solving and time management skills .
Ability to maintain confidential information.
Physical Requirements:
Stooping - frequently bending the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
Kneeling - frequently bending legs at knees to come to rest on knee or knees.
Reaching - frequently extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.
Handling - frequently seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or otherwise working with hand or hands.
Ability to transport files up to approximately 20 pounds.
Ability to lift files up to 20 pounds from the ground level to 4 feet in height and move them from shelf to shelf in storage.
Walking- moving about on foot to accomplish tasks.
Regularly required to use hand to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear using telephone, computer keyboard, mouse, and calculator while seated at a desk.
Able to sit at a desk for extended periods of time.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
