Position Summary
The Opportunity:  This position reports to the Vice President for Equity and Inclusion. You will also have the opportunity to work closely with the following department across campus, who will be strategic partners, stakeholders, and collaborators:

The Location:  Skagit Valley College is on the traditional and unceded territories of the Coast Salish People’s, especially on Swinomish Indian Tribal Community, Upper Skagit Indian Tribe, Samish Indian Nation, Nooksack Indian Tribe and Sauk-Suiattle Indian Tribe. Program Engagement and Development
Direct and manage the expansion of services from Equity Cohorts on Mount Vernon (MV), Whidbey Island Campus (WIC), and San Juan Island (SJI) campuses:Maestros Para el Pueblo (a teacher preparation program)Champions of Diversity; Lead and supports all Equity Cohort orientations on the MV and WIC sites; Assist with the development and implementation of Equity Cohort Guided Pathways; Lead the Cardinal Community professional development committee, recruit presenters, and manage conference operations:Oversee Cardinal Community Day, a campus-wide conference on advancing equity and inclusion; Strategize, plan and implement programs to support retention and completion for students that include but not limited to: non-profit organizations, religious institutions, community centers, businesses, university and K-12 partners; Provide support and facilitation to the SVC Equity Council to track and manage projects; Develop and implement strategies to support retention and completion through a student service model; Oversee Diversity Center programming and development to support retention and completion strategies; Work closely with the Vice President for Equity and Inclusion to develop and deliver comprehensive equity programs for MV, WIC and SJ campuses. Assessment Direct and manages the facilitation of campus climate listening sessions for employees and students; In collaboration with Human Resources, assess and evaluate employee professional development offerings to determine institutional gaps, needs, progress and effectiveness; Work collaboratively with the Office of Institutional Planning and Effectiveness to measure, monitor, and leverage SVC’s equity data and metrics, and partner with each department to create and sustain a culture of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) within and across our institution; Create processes to compile data as it relates to SVCs DEI related efforts and outcomes; Develop a repository of materials (e.g., reference materials, assessments, visual aids, toolkits, etc.) that will serve as A resource guide for the college; Audit, track and develop an inventory of equity-based training offerings across the campus; Support grant development with focus on increasing enrollment and improving student success; In collaboration with the Title IX office, supports special projects and review of any compliance or training related to DEI pertaining to students and employees. External and Internal Community Facilitates cooperative working relationships between division and college offices to support equity student outcomes; Coordinate, plan, and organize special projects in collaboration with other departments as defined by the Vice President for Equity and Inclusion; Assist with the development of academic collaborations with faculty on Equity Designation course; Keep current on diversity programs and developments by maintaining contact with others in the field (Multicultural Student Services Directors Council, MSSDC). Office Management Manage and convene the Bias Incident Response Team and process for SVC by working in tandem with a campus wide team including the Title IX office, Campus Security and other offices; Manage part-time staff and work-study students to support equity focused institutional goals; Prepare internal and external reports regarding SVC diversity efforts related to State Bills Legislature; Establish and maintain comprehensive fiscal records; oversees fiscal planning, purchasing, travel, contracts, and reimbursements, of all accounts under the Office of Equity and Inclusion; Evaluate costs for the department such as personnel, equipment, and space renovations; Other duties as assigned.

Passion for explaining and presenting data or complex ideas to diverse constituent groups; Advanced communication skills with ability to listen actively and respond to fellow employees in a timely, competent manner both verbally and non-verbally; Broad thinking and perspective of current diversity, equity, and inclusion trends, and best practices that lead to transformational change; Experience working with cross-departmental groups to accomplish college-wide goals; Ability to establish and maintain positive and respectful working relationships with internal and external customers; Must maintain a high standard of conduct and ethical behavior. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; Two or more years of experience with leading training and/or professional development experiences; Experience with creating and maintaining program or projects that sustain, foster, or increase the access, retention, and promotion of an organization’s employees—particularly for groups that have been historically excluded from participation; Experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university; Ability to develop collaborative campus relationships and function as a team member; Ability to facilitate and moderate dialogue among cross-cultural environments; Multilingual Experience in an education environment, especially a community college; Experience with creating research projects from start to finish—design, implementation, analysis, and synthesis; Knowledge and understanding of research principles, statistics, and outcome measurement tools and systems; Have experience building effective multi-year DEI strategies, including full lifecycle plans in at least one of the following areas of recruitment, retention, learning, or engagement; Knowledge of power, privilege, oppression, and antiracism ideologies within the context of the United States of America; Knowledge, skills, and ability to develop culturally responsive programs in a higher education OR nonprofit environment by serving as a planning member for the development of a culturally responsive program. Salary and Benefits: Annual salary rate for this twelve-month, 100% of full-time position is $70,000 - $77,000 depending on experience; Contracts are written annually for the period of July 1 to June 30. This position will be filled as soon practical after a candidate is identified and the salary will be pro-rated for the remaining contract period. This position is exempt from civil service. This position is eligible for overtime. Salary, retirement, medical and insurance benefits are provided in accordance with state regulations and may be subject to change in accordance with legislative mandates.
